At launch, the distillery called 139.4 proof its highest-proof offering to date. That is a launch-time claim, not a verified all-time record as of October 2026.
What is Chocolate Whisper Redux 139.4?
Chocolate Whisper Redux 139.4 is a limited-edition Woodford Reserve Distillery Series whiskey. Woodford’s announcement, published by the Kentucky Distillers’ Association on February 20, 2025, identifies it as 12 years old and bottled at 139.4 proof. In the U.S. proof system, that equals 69.7% alcohol by volume (ABV), because proof is twice the ABV percentage.
Woodford said the whiskey evolved from an initial 2021 release and that longer barrel aging developed “a deeper complexity” and “rich and robust flavors of chocolate and coffee.” Those are the distillery’s descriptions, not independently verified tasting notes. The announcement quotes Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall saying: “It is exciting to see how Chocolate Whisper Redux evolved since its initial release in 2021,” and “A longer barrel age has enhanced its bold flavor notes while preserving the long finish.” Kentucky Distillers’ Association announcement.
Is 139.4 proof still Woodford Reserve’s strongest release?
Woodford described 139.4 proof as its highest-proof offering to date when the bottle was announced. The brand’s Distillery Series page lists Chocolate Whisper Redux among past expressions and includes later releases, but the available information does not establish whether any subsequent bottle has surpassed it. It is therefore accurate to call it Woodford’s highest-proof offering at launch, but not to present that as a confirmed current record.

Price, bottle size and availability
Distiller’s product entry reports a $99.99 price for a 375 ml bottle and says the release was available at the distillery, through Woodford’s online store, and at select Kentucky retailers. That is secondary launch context, not a current price or confirmation of stock. How to interpret the proof and flavor claims
- Proof: 139.4 proof is equivalent to 69.7% ABV. It is a high alcohol concentration, so pour size matters; proof alone does not establish how a whiskey tastes.
- Flavor: Chocolate and coffee are Woodford’s stated flavor descriptions. They should not be treated as a guarantee that every drinker will perceive those notes.
- Age: The 12-year age statement and the distillery’s account of additional barrel aging are release details, not a substitute for an independent comparison with other expressions.
