A football-business newsletter says The Athletic reported that John Textor made an offer to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ owners, Fosun, in the region of £410 million. That is a second-hand report, not an independently confirmed bid: the underlying Athletic article and an official statement from Wolves, Fosun or Textor were not available in the sources reviewed. The headline figure and the status of any offer should therefore be treated as unverified.
What is the reported £410m Wolves bid?
The Anfield Ledger’s “The Week In Football Business #3” attributed to The Athletic a report that Textor had submitted an offer to Fosun “in the region of £410m.” The newsletter does not independently establish that a formal offer was made, what the figure measures, or whether the approach remains active. The Anfield Ledger
A separate article later repeated that an offer exceeding £410m had reportedly been made in October, but it does not reliably establish the year, terms or current status. It does not resolve those uncertainties. NaijaWhisper
What is confirmed, and what is not?
Wolves’ official announcement on 20 July 2016 said a sale and purchase agreement transferred 100% ownership of the club and its assets from Steve Morgan and Bridgemere Group to Fosun Group. That is historical context; it does not establish current ownership or verify a new offer. Wolves: Fosun Group takes over Wolves

- Formal bid or informal approach: not established.
- Meaning of £410m: unclear; the available report does not establish whether it is an offer price, an enterprise valuation or another figure.
- Date: unverified. The available sources do not support a precise date or the claim that it happened in October 2026.
- Terms and stake: no verified details on financing, conditions, cash or other consideration, or whether the proposal sought full control or a minority stake.
- Status: no verified evidence that Fosun accepted, rejected or is discussing an offer, or that it has lapsed.
- Official response: no statement about this specific alleged offer from Wolves, Fosun, Textor or a regulator was located.
What would confirm the story?
The key distinction is between a reported approach and a confirmed takeover proposal. Confirmation would require the original Athletic report or a direct statement from a party involved. To understand what a potential transaction actually means, reporting would also need to establish the proposed price basis, the stake sought, consideration and conditions, and whether the proposal is still open.
