A single Powerball ticket sold in metropolitan Perth won Western Australia’s entire $50 million Division One prize on July 23, 2015. The winner had not come forward when reported two days later; Lotterywest subsequently said the winners were a Perth family. The family was not publicly named.
How did the $50 million Powerball win happen?
The Thursday, July 23, 2015 draw produced one Division One winning ticket in Western Australia. PerthNow reported that the ticket took the full $50 million prize and was not a syndicate entry. The reported numbers were 3, 9, 27, 32, 25, 21, with Powerball 18. Those numbers identify that historical draw; they do not provide a method for improving the odds in another draw.
This was a Western Australian Powerball result, not a U.S. Powerball win. PerthNow’s July 25, 2015 report described the single-ticket result.
Where was the winning ticket sold?
The ticket was sold somewhere in metropolitan Perth. The precise retailer was not disclosed in the contemporaneous report, which said the location was withheld to protect the winner. No more specific suburb or shop has been established in the available accounts.

Did the winner come forward?
As of PerthNow’s July 25, 2015 report, the ticket was unregistered and its holder had not yet come forward. That was the status at the time, not a continuing unknown. In a retrospective published September 17, 2019, Lotterywest said a Perth family had won the 2015 prize. Lotterywest’s account does not identify the family.
What did the Perth family do with the winnings?
Lotterywest said the family told the agency they had expanded their business and quietly helped family and friends. The official account offers no further detail about the business, the amounts involved, or the family’s finances, so it does not support broader conclusions about how lottery winners use their money.
