The Gulfstream G700 entered customer service in April 2024: Aviation Week reported that the first two customer aircraft were in service by April 24. The FAA had granted type certification on March 29, allowing deliveries to begin; EASA certification followed on May 15. Those are separate milestones, not one launch date.

When the G700 was certified and entered service

Date Milestone What it means
March 29, 2024 FAA type certification announced by Gulfstream The FAA certification cleared the way for customer deliveries; it did not itself mean aircraft were already in service. Gulfstream’s announcement described the milestone as the culmination of its most rigorous certification program to date.
April 2024; reported by April 24 First two customer aircraft entered service Aviation Week reported that the first two customer G700s had entered service.
May 15, 2024 EASA certification announced by Gulfstream Gulfstream said European certification opened deliveries to more international customers. Read the company announcement.

“Introduces into service” therefore refers to the first customer aircraft beginning operations, not the date of FAA certification or a claim that every planned aircraft had been delivered. The reported chronology establishes the FAA and EASA milestones and first customer aircraft only; it does not establish approval by every national authority.

What the G700 offers, according to Gulfstream

Gulfstream describes the G700 as its flagship and largest-cabin aircraft. Its published figures and features are manufacturer claims, not independent performance assessments.

  • Range: Gulfstream lists 7,750 nautical miles at Mach 0.85, or 6,650 nautical miles at Mach 0.90. These are theoretical NBAA IFR figures based on eight passengers, four crew and reserves. Routing, speed, weather and aircraft outfitting affect actual range. Gulfstream’s product page gives the assumptions.
  • Speed: Gulfstream lists a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935.
  • Runway performance: The manufacturer lists a 5,995-foot balanced field length for takeoff and a 3,150-foot landing distance under standard ISA, sea-level conditions.
  • Cabin: Depending on configuration, Gulfstream lists up to five living areas, 19 seats and sleeping space for as many as 13. The cabin has 20 Panoramic Oval Windows; available interior concepts include a grand suite and an ultragalley.
  • Air and cabin altitude: Gulfstream states that cabin altitude is 2,840 feet at 41,000 feet. The company says the cabin receives 100% fresh, never-recirculated air; its current product page says fresh, plasma-ionized air is replenished every two to three minutes.
  • Engines and flight deck: Gulfstream lists two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and its Symmetry Flight Deck. The company also identifies the Combined Vision System and Predictive Landing Performance System as flight-deck safety features; those descriptions do not amount to an independent evaluation.

For a specific trip, the published maximum range should not be treated as a guaranteed nonstop distance. The manufacturer’s assumptions and real-world operating conditions matter, as do the selected cabin layout and aircraft outfitting.

What the 2026 FAA directive means for G700 operators

A 2026 FAA airworthiness directive addresses reports of a broken hollow pin cap associated with a missing sleeve bushing on an engine aft thrust strut. The directive identifies specified G700 and G800 serial numbers and requires the applicable corrective action before further flight, subject to its exceptions and other requirements. It does not describe a fleetwide grounding. Operators should consult the current directive and confirm whether an aircraft’s serial number and compliance status place it within scope. Read the FAA directive.
