Wagner’s career before Birmingham City
Wagner’s career progressed from accounting into increasingly senior roles in credit markets. The sequence below covers his professional work before his involvement with the Blues.

A July 2023 Bloomberg Radio Masters in Business episode description reported Knighthead Capital had $10 billion in assets under management at that time. That is a dated firm-level figure, not a current AUM figure or a statement of Wagner’s personal wealth. [c004]
How his finance career connects to Birmingham City
Knighthead’s co-founder role preceded Wagner’s Birmingham City ownership chapter. In August 2023, after Tom Brady became a minority owner, Wagner described the partnership to BBC Sport as a statement of intent and said the group was setting a world-class standard. That comment concerns the later football partnership; it is separate from his earlier finance roles. [c003]
