When Katic left Castle
ABC announced on April 18, 2016, that Katic would not return for the following season. The network said Kate Beckett had been a beloved character for eight years and thanked Katic for her talent and dedication. Katic’s official biography also describes her as playing Beckett for eight seasons.
In a 2018 interview with TVLine, Katic said she was still unclear about the reasoning behind her departure and described the ending as painful and harsh. She also called the experience formative and expressed gratitude for the work. Those comments describe her perspective on leaving; they do not reveal the financial terms of her departure.

Katic continued acting after the series. Her official biography identifies her as the lead of Absentia and lists additional film work. That establishes continued professional activity, but the available sources do not state what she earned from those roles, whether she received residuals, or how any income affected her overall finances.
