Endomines Finland’s UKKO-001 drill hole at the Ukko deposit in Ukkolanvaara, eastern Finland, intersected three gold-bearing intervals. The result helped prompt follow-up exploration, and the company later reported a longer known mineralized strike. But a promising drill hole is not proof of an economic gold deposit, a mine, or a new gold rush.
What did UKKO-001 intersect?
Endomines reported UKKO-001 as the first drill hole from the Ukko deposit in a May 28, 2025 release. The company said it intersected three significant gold zones. Its November 24, 2025 investor presentation listed these intervals:
- 30.95 metres grading 3.28 grams of gold per tonne (g/t), starting at 45.55 metres down the hole; within that interval, 9.35 metres graded 7.08 g/t.
- 20.00 metres grading 1.60 g/t, starting at 16.20 metres down the hole.
- 6.30 metres grading 2.67 g/t, starting at 3.35 metres down the hole.
These are reported down-hole lengths and grades, not confirmed true widths. A drill hole measures rock along the path of the borehole; the thickness of a mineralized zone across its geometry may differ. The figures describe samples from one hole, not the total quantity or average grade of gold in a deposit.

- SEARCHCOIL COVER INCLUDED: Protective cover shields the searchcoil from scratches, rocks, and debris to extend coil life and maintain reliable detection performance.
How did follow-up drilling change the picture?
Subsequent company updates described a growing exploration footprint. The dimensions below are dated reports of the company’s interpretation at each point, not successive measurements of a defined mineral resource.
| Date | Company-reported update | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| June 27, 2025 | Gold mineralization extended along at least 400 metres of strike; a high-grade zone extended to at least 150 metres depth. | An early exploration interpretation based on drilling reported at that time. |
| July 30, 2026 | Known UKKO deposit strike length reported at 650 metres. The release highlighted UKKO-087: 44.85 metres grading 2.27 g/t gold from 164.30 metres down the hole. | A later exploration update indicating a larger known strike extent, not a resource estimate or mine decision. |

Why a strong drill result is not the same as a gold discovery ready to mine
Drill assays show the gold content of sampled rock at particular locations. To establish a mineral resource, a company must build a sufficiently supported geological model of the deposit’s size, continuity, and grade. To establish whether it could be mined economically requires further work, including technical, environmental, permitting, infrastructure, and cost considerations.
- UKKO-001 establishes: Endomines reported gold-bearing intervals in that drill hole.
- Follow-up updates establish: the company continued drilling and reported a larger known mineralized strike length over time.
- These results do not establish: the deposit’s total gold content, an economic resource or reserve, a mine plan, a production decision, or whether mining would be profitable.
The reported intervals and dimensions are company disclosures. They are exploration evidence, not an independent finding of economic viability. The June 2025 figures, in particular, describe the company’s developing interpretation at that stage.

Does UKKO-001 point to “the biggest gold rush in decades”?
That phrase is headline speculation, not a conclusion demonstrated by the drilling. The reported results are significant enough to explain why Endomines pursued follow-up work, but one hole—and later exploration updates—cannot by themselves establish a mineable deposit or predict a gold rush.
DailyGalaxy attributed a bullish statement about three high-grade zones in one hole to Endomines CEO Kari Vyhtinen in its June 4, 2025 coverage. That is a secondary article, not technical evidence of the deposit’s economics. Any such characterization should be understood as attributed company optimism rather than an independent assessment.
