What are the Vans x Opening Ceremony Qi Pao shoes?
They are collaborative Vans slip-ons designed with Opening Ceremony, with the Qi Pao name referring to the traditional Chinese dress that inspired the collection. Architectural Digest connected an early Qi Pao Pack to Opening Ceremony’s “Year of China” theme for 2016 and described traditional Chinese silk fabrics. The article also reported that the shoes retailed for $85 per pair.
Descriptions of the materials differ across coverage, so it is safest to describe the shoes as silk- or satin-fabric styles rather than assume every release used the same material. They are an archival collaboration, not a standard Vans model with established ongoing retail availability.

2017 Qi Pao follow-up
SHOES UP’s July 11, 2017 coverage described a return to the OG Classic Slip-On silhouette, with red, royal blue, gold, and purple/black versions and gold baroque motifs. Its “available now” statement refers to that period, not present-day stock.
Vogue Italia reported on July 7, 2017 that the satin, four-color capsule was the second Qi Pao collection, following an initial launch the prior year. The available reporting does not provide an authoritative SKU list, so names such as “Qi Pao II Navy” should be treated as listing or colorway labels rather than proof of a complete product archive.

Do not confuse Qi Pao with the 2021 Vans x Opening Ceremony collection
Vans’ official page for the separate 2021 global Opening Ceremony collection describes a February 19, 2021 launch featuring abstract snake and leopard interpretations of the checkerboard pattern on Authentic shoes, alongside apparel and accessories. That collection is not the Qi Pao slip-on release; its patterns and product descriptions should not be used to identify Qi Pao shoes.
Original price versus resale cost
The only specific original retail figure in the cited Qi Pao coverage is $85 per pair, as reported by Architectural Digest. It is a historical retail price, not a current resale estimate. Present-day costs depend on the individual listing and may also include shipping, taxes, or marketplace fees.
