Historical notice: UPSC CAPF AC applications for the 2024 cycle are closed. The Union Public Service Commission announced 506 tentative Assistant Commandant vacancies across five Central Armed Police Forces. Applications were due by 6:00 p.m. on 14 May 2024, and the written examination was scheduled for 4 August 2024.
How the 506 tentative vacancies were divided
UPSC Examination Notice No. 09/2024-CPF announced Assistant Commandant (Group A) recruitment in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). UPSC described the total as tentative and said it was liable to alteration.

2024 application and examination dates
UPSC uploaded the notice on 24 April 2024. The application deadline was 14 May 2024 at 6:00 p.m.; the written examination was scheduled for 4 August 2024. Those dates belong to the 2024 cycle, and its registration window has ended.

The notice required online applications and ruled out other submission methods: “CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY ONLINE ONLY. NO OTHER MODE IS ALLOWED FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION.” — UPSC Examination Notice No. 09/2024-CPF. This is a historical instruction for the 2024 application, not a way to apply now.

What the 2024 rules say about reservation documents
The 2024 rules excerpt specifies that an OBC candidate’s Non-Creamy Layer certificate was to be based on financial years 2023–24, 2022–23, and 2021–22, issued on or after 1 April 2024 and no later than the application closing date. Reservation eligibility also depended on the Central Government’s applicable community and EWS criteria and required documents. This excerpt is not a complete eligibility checklist; it should not be used to infer all 2024 requirements or requirements for another cycle. Read the 2024 Gazette rules.

UPSC’s CAPF AC page now lists a separate 2026 cycle. Its dates, vacancies, and requirements are distinct from the 2024 notice. Anyone considering a current application should use the notice for the relevant cycle rather than rely on the historical 506-vacancy announcement. Check UPSC’s CAPF AC examination page.
