As of 8 October 2026, UPSC’s 2026 CAPF AC examination has also taken place, and the Commission has posted written-result documents. What happened to the 2024 application window?
UPSC issued the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2024 notification on 24 April 2024. Applications closed on 14 May 2024 at 6:00 p.m., and the written examination was scheduled for 4 August 2024. Those dates have passed, so the 2024 notice cannot be used to submit a new application.
The examination record also contains later-cycle documents: question papers uploaded on 5 August 2024, cutoff marks uploaded on 16 June 2025, and a reserve list uploaded on 15 June 2026. UPSC’s marks archive separately lists recommended-candidate marks for CAPF AC Examination 2024, uploaded on 25 June 2025.
What did “506 posts” mean?
The 2024 notice described 506 as the tentative total number of vacancies. Its force-wise distribution was:

These are the tentative vacancies stated in the 2024 UPSC notice. They are not a current vacancy count, and they do not indicate that applications are open now.
Has the next CAPF AC cycle opened?
The later 2026 cycle is not an open application window either. UPSC’s Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination, 2026 page records a notification date of 20 February 2026, an application deadline of 12 March 2026 at 6:00 p.m., and an examination date of 19 July 2026. The page lists written-result files uploaded on 25 August and 8 September 2026, along with a notice uploaded on 8 September.
The 2024 and 2026 records describe completed application windows, not two ways to apply today:

How to check for a future application opportunity
- Open UPSC’s examination page and look for a current CAPF (AC) notice. Confirm its year and whether its application window is active.
- Read the notice itself for the application deadline, eligibility requirements, vacancy information and examination dates. Do not rely on a past-cycle headline or vacancy figure.
- If a current notice directs you to apply, use UPSC’s Apply Online information page and follow the portal and instructions specified in that notice. Reaching a general application portal does not reopen a closed examination cycle.
Where to find official preparation materials
For study rather than registration, UPSC’s 2024 examination record lists the two papers: General Ability and Intelligence, and General Studies, Essay and Comprehension. The Commission also lists a CAPF (AC) specimen question-and-answer booklet on its Specimen Question Cum Answer Booklets page. These materials can help candidates prepare for a future cycle; they do not provide access to the closed 2024 application.
