In February 2026 Embraer unveiled the Praetor 500E, which the company calls the first evolution of the Praetor family, and in June 2026 it announced that the 500E had received certification from Brazil’s ANAC, the US FAA and EASA. This guide separates the established Praetor 500 from the 2026 500E, explains the cabin and technology changes, and shows which figures are Embraer’s own claims and which conditions they depend on.
Which aircraft this guide covers
The “Updated Legacy” phrase in the title suggests a lineage story, but Embraer’s materials support a narrower one. They describe the Praetor 500E as the first evolution of the Praetor family. They do not document how the older Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 relate to the 500E, and this guide does not claim a conversion history. Treat three things as separate:
- Praetor 500: the original midsize model. Its published specifications come from an Embraer brochure whose publication date is not established in the material reviewed for this article.
- Praetor 500E: the 2026 evolution, unveiled alongside the Praetor 600E. Its cabin, controls and avionics descriptions come from Embraer’s February 2026 announcement and current product page.
- Legacy 450 and Legacy 500: earlier Embraer models. They appear here only where Embraer’s connectivity announcement names them.
What changed in the Praetor 500E
Embraer describes the 500E as a cabin and cockpit-interface update rather than a new airframe design. Its own launch language puts the emphasis on comfort, controls and connectivity. Embraer’s Praetor 500E product materials list the following changes.
Cabin and seating
- A redesigned cabin with Embraer-designed seating.
- Seats with configurable cushion firmness, dual lumbar support, a forward-tracking headrest, electric-assist movement and a lounge position.
- More legroom and a redesigned berthing process.
- A refreshment center redesigned for more storage and service capacity on longer missions.
Cabin management, entertainment and lighting
The 500E adds an advanced cabin management system (CMS), enhanced in-flight entertainment and lighting, and Smart Switch controls. New interfaces let occupants manage cabin temperature, airflow, lighting, video and audio. Voice control, RGB mood lighting, Bluetooth audio and wireless charging are described as optional integrations or enhancements, so confirm which ones a particular aircraft includes before assuming they are standard.

Flight deck and safety systems
Embraer lists full fly-by-wire with active turbulence reduction, the Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) and the Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS). The company says these systems reduce pilot workload and improve situational awareness. The product page also lists a Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion flight deck and the Synthetic Vision Guidance System (SVGS). These are manufacturer descriptions of capability. They are not a guarantee of safety or of access to every airport.
Cabin dimensions Embraer claims
Embraer describes the 500E cabin as six feet tall, with a flat floor, stone flooring, a vacuum service lavatory and a 5,800-foot cabin altitude. The company also calls its baggage compartment the largest in its class. The “largest in class” comparison is Embraer’s own claim; no independent measurement is cited for it.

Range: what the 3,340 nautical mile figure assumes
Embraer’s stated Praetor 500E range is 3,340 nautical miles (6,186 km) with four passengers and NBAA IFR reserves. The product page states that its city-pair estimates use the following assumptions:
- Four passengers at 200 lb (91 kg) each.
- A baseline aircraft.
- 85% annual winds.
- ISA conditions en route.
- 85% annual takeoff temperature.
- A 3% airway allowance.
- Long-range cruise.
- NBAA IFR reserves with a 200 nm alternate.
- No wet-footprint considerations.
A range figure under these conditions is not a route guarantee. Payload, weather, airport conditions, aircraft configuration and operating reserves all change what a specific mission can achieve. Embraer’s “fastest” and “furthest” style comparisons are the company’s own claims. No independent comparative study of the 500E’s range or speed was identified.

Legacy Praetor 500 specifications and how they compare
Embraer’s Praetor 500 brochure gives baseline specifications for the earlier model. These figures describe the Praetor 500 as the brochure presents it. They should not be read as a complete 500E specification sheet, and where the 500E’s own materials do not state a value, the table below says so.

Because the 500E’s own materials leave several cells blank, a difference should not be inferred where the table says “not stated.” Ask Embraer for the current specification sheet for the exact variant you are evaluating.

Certification and delivery timing
On June 30, 2026, Embraer announced that the Praetor 500E had received triple certification from Brazil’s ANAC, the US FAA and EASA. The company said this approves the aircraft for operation in key global markets. For new orders, Embraer stated that deliveries of the Praetor 500E and 600E were expected to begin in 2029.
Both points are time-sensitive. Certification status and delivery schedules can change, so confirm them with Embraer before making plans based on either.

At the February 2026 launch, Michael Amalfitano, President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets, said:
“We are proud to unveil the Praetor 600E and Praetor 500E, elevating the private flight experience with smarter, more intuitive jets designed for the next generation of private travelers.”
That is a manufacturer executive’s positioning statement, not an independent assessment.
Connectivity upgrades for existing operators
Embraer has announced an aftermarket Starlink connectivity installation for Praetor 500 and 600 and Legacy 450 and 500 aircraft, delivered through a supplemental type certificate (STC) partnership with Nextant Aerospace. It is a specialized upgrade for operators, not consumer hardware. Before relying on it, confirm the current STC status, which aircraft are eligible, where service is available and the partner’s terms.

How to verify the figures for your own use
- Confirm the exact variant. Ask whether the aircraft is a Praetor 500 or a Praetor 500E and which options are installed, including voice control, RGB lighting, Bluetooth audio and wireless charging.
- Check certification directly. Confirm the 500E’s approval status with ANAC, the FAA and EASA for the specific registration or operating authority you need.
- Rebuild the range assumptions. Compare your intended passenger load, reserves, winds, temperatures and alternate requirements against the conditions listed above.
- Test runway performance at your airports. Take the 500E’s takeoff and landing data for your field conditions from the manufacturer or a qualified operator, rather than from the Praetor 500 brochure.
- Confirm the delivery schedule. For new orders, obtain a written delivery position from Embraer, since the 2029 expectation was stated in 2026.
