It sells a changing mix of goods that the company says it acquires through agreements with airlines and other transportation businesses. Its inventory can include clothing, electronics, jewelry, luggage, and cargo goods, so shoppers should check each listing and the live checkout terms rather than expect a particular item or a guaranteed bargain.
What is the airports’ unclaimed baggage online store?
Unclaimed Baggage is the official retailer at unclaimedbaggage.com. The company describes itself as a resale business that buys unclaimed goods from domestic airlines and other transportation companies. Airports do not directly operate the shop, and the merchandise is not limited to checked airline bags: the company says its sources also include cargo and goods from buses, trains, trucks, hospitality, and other travel or transportation channels.
The company says its business dates to 1970 and that its online store launched in 2020. Its model is therefore different from a lost-luggage office: the retailer sells goods after transportation companies’ efforts to reunite luggage with owners have run their course.
How does Unclaimed Baggage get and prepare items?
Unclaimed Baggage says goods are sorted into streams for resale, repurposing, or recycling. It describes cleaning apparel, testing electronics and clearing personal data, cleaning and appraising fine jewelry, and authenticating luxury goods. These are the retailer’s descriptions of its process, not independent verification of the treatment of every individual item; use the listing to assess the specific product.

The company’s undated process page, accessed in 2026, says more than 99.5% of bags are reunited with owners “right away” and less than 0.03% of checked luggage is ultimately deemed truly unclaimed after the search it describes. Those are company-published figures, not independent airline-industry statistics or audited current measurements.
What kind of products do they sell?
The assortment can include items travelers might pack, along with unclaimed cargo. The retailer’s FAQ names clothes, cameras, jewelry, electronics, golf clubs, and luggage; it also says cargo can include new-with-tags clothing, books, and household goods. Categories shown on the online store include headphones, watches, e-readers, handbags, eyeglasses, boots, and fragrances. What is actually for sale depends on current inventory.

Many listings are individual, one-off items. The company says online arrivals are released in multiple batches each week, so a listing that sells may not return in the same model, size, or condition. Its advertised “up to 80% below retail value” is a maximum claimed by the retailer, not a typical or independently measured discount. Compare the listed price and condition with alternatives before deciding whether an item is a good value.
Online store or Scottsboro shop: which should you choose?
| Shopping channel | Inventory and timing | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Online store | The company says it releases multiple batches of arrivals each week. | Convenient browsing, but many listings are one-off and the online catalog does not mirror the physical store. |
| Scottsboro, Alabama, physical store | The company says it rolls out up to 7,000 items daily; most are not available online. | In-person browsing offers access to a much larger reported daily selection, but requires a visit to Scottsboro. |
The rollout figures come from Unclaimed Baggage’s own pages and should be understood as company-reported, not independently counted inventory. If you are shopping online for a specific brand, size, or item, do not assume the store has it or that it will be restocked.

How to evaluate an online listing and checkout
- Read the item description and inspect its photos. Assess condition, included accessories, and any disclosed wear for that exact listing. For electronics, the company says items are tested and personal data is erased according to official NIST standards; a listing should still be your guide to the product’s condition. Do not assume a particular warranty or software version unless the listing explicitly states it.
- Compare the asking price with alternatives. Treat any estimated retail value or discount as a reference supplied by the retailer, not proof of the item’s current market value. Check comparable listings and account for condition.
- Review shipping at checkout. The official FAQ currently says domestic orders over $99 receive free standard shipping; below that threshold, shipping is calculated at checkout. The FAQ estimates processing within two business days and standard delivery in 3–8 business days after processing. These terms can change, so confirm the total and delivery estimate before placing an order.
- Check the current return terms. The homepage advertises a 21-day return guarantee for items that do not match their pictured condition or description. Verify the live policy and the listing’s eligibility before buying, since policy details can change.
Can you find your lost suitcase there?
No. Unclaimed Baggage is a resale destination, not a lost-bag recovery service. Its FAQ says that by the time it buys luggage, airlines have made efforts over a 3–4 month period to return it. If your bag is missing, continue through the airline’s lost-baggage process and any claim you have open; browsing the retailer is not a substitute for reporting or tracking your own bag.

Use the official retailer’s domain, unclaimedbaggage.com, for its store and policies. A separate site at unclaimedbaggageonline.shop also uses the Unclaimed Baggage name, but its relationship to the Scottsboro retailer is not established here. Do not assume that site’s claims or policies apply to the official store; verify the business and terms independently before sharing payment or personal information.
