What “today” meant in the original headline
“Today” referred to 25 June 2025, the date Scroll published its report—not to the current date. TNPSC’s notification portal marks the application for Notification 09/2025 as closed. This recruitment was for Combined Technical Services Examination (Non-Interview Posts), not the separate Interview Posts or Diploma/ITI recruitment.
TNPSC’s notice, dated 21 May 2025, invited online applications for direct recruitment. It stated: “Applications are invited only through online mode for direct recruitment to the posts in Combined Technical Services Examination (Non – Interview Posts).” Read TNPSC Notification No. 09/2025.

The notice listed 615 tentative vacancies across 47 post entries. The total was subject to change before counselling, so it should not be read as a final appointment count.

Roles included Assistant Engineer posts in several departments and specialities, Junior Planner, Assistant Engineer (Agricultural Engineering), Agricultural Officer (Extension), Junior Electrical Inspector, Assistant Director (Industrial Safety and Health), Inspector of Fisheries, Research Assistant, Junior Scientific Officer, Community Officer, Assistant Statistical Investigator, Librarian and Assistant Tourist Officer, Grade II. Counts, post codes, departments, pay levels and qualifications differed. Use the post-by-post table in the official notification for the relevant entry; the 615 total does not mean every role had the same requirements or pay.
Eligibility depended on the post and category
There was no single qualification or age rule for all 47 post entries. TNPSC specified the required educational or technical credential for each post, and candidates had to possess the relevant qualification by the notification date, 21 May 2025.

Age was calculated as of 1 July 2025. Most posts required candidates to have completed age 21; the notice specified age 30 for Executive Officer, Grade I. Maximum ages and concessions depended on the post and category. Candidates checking archived eligibility should use the specific post and category provisions in the notification rather than relying on a general age summary.
Application, fee and correction dates
Applications were submitted online through TNPSC’s examination portal. Candidates who had not completed One Time Registration needed to do so first. The notice treated an application as submitted only after final submission; registration alone was not an application.
- Deadline: 25 June 2025, 11:59 PM.
- Examination fee: ₹100, plus ₹100 for each additional subject paper, subject to the notification’s fee-exemption provisions for eligible categories.
- Correction window: 29 June 2025 at 12:01 AM through 1 July 2025 at 11:59 PM.
These are the dates and fees stated in TNPSC’s 2025 notice, not current application instructions. The TNPSC notification portal identifies the application as closed.

TNPSC described selection as a single-stage written examination. Candidates had to appear in both Paper I and Paper II. Ranking used marks from Part B and Part C of Paper I and Paper II, subject to reservation rules; certificate verification and counselling followed where applicable.
