Estimates from different publishers and dates can help show scale, but they should not be merged into one ranking. The source, attribution, date, and business exposure differ:

Forbes’s September 15 estimate for Miriam Adelson & family is $1.02 billion higher than WealthRank’s figure dated September 24. The difference is a reminder that estimates from separate services are not interchangeable; the dates, valuation methods, holdings, and family attribution conventions may differ. Neither number is the value of Las Vegas Sands itself.

Forbes says the Adelson family owns more than half of Las Vegas Sands, whose casinos are in Singapore and Macao. The company sold its Las Vegas Strip assets in 2022, so the family should not be described as the current owner of those sold properties.
Why casino-owner lists disagree
“Casino owner” can mean several things
- Current substantial stake: a person or family holds an ownership interest in a casino operator today.
- Executive or founder: a person built or led a casino business but may no longer own or control it.
- Former owner: wealth came partly from casino assets that have since been sold.
- Estate or family fortune: a publisher attributes assets to a family or deceased founder’s estate rather than to one living individual.
- Broader gambling-sector wealth: online betting, gaming, and related businesses may qualify even if land-based casino ownership is not central.
These categories describe different relationships. A founder’s historical role, an heir’s family wealth, and a present-day controlling stake should not be treated as equivalent evidence of current ownership.

The mix illustrates the distinction: the ranking covers a sector, not solely owners of land-based casino operators. WealthRank reports $92.42 billion in combined wealth and a $9.24 billion average for those ten entries; those totals apply only to that particular list.

A billionaire ranking is an estimate of a person’s or family’s assets minus liabilities, not a measure of a casino company’s value or the cash available to spend. For public companies, share prices and exchange rates can move the estimate; publishers may also use different attribution rules for relatives, estates, and private assets. Bloomberg, for example, assigns the Galaxy-linked family fortune to Francis Lui in recognition of his role as K. Wah Group chairman. Its profile also notes the family’s approximately 59% ownership of K. Wah International.
