There is no single replacement price for every Honda Insight. Costs vary by generation and by whether you choose an OEM, remanufactured, new-cell, or conversion pack—and many advertised prices are not installed totals. The examples below show what sellers have listed, not guaranteed current quotes. For a reliable figure, get a written, VIN-specific quote that separates the traction battery, parts, labor, warranty, shipping, and any core charge.
What replacement listings show by Insight generation
These are advertised examples collected in CarBatteryCenter’s market overview, accessed in 2026, plus a reseller catalog listing. They are not independently verified current quotes, and the products and installation terms are not directly comparable. Confirm price and fitment with the seller before relying on a listing.
| Insight model years | Documented listing examples | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 2000–2006 | Greentec listed a remanufactured NiMH pack at $1,395 with a 12-month headline warranty; an “8.0 Amp Cells” NiMH pack at $2,095 with 36 months; and a $2,899 lithium upgrade with 36 months, marked shop-install-only. A DIY lithium conversion was listed at $900 with a 30-day limited warranty. Best Hybrid Batteries listed a pack at $1,749 and advertised “unlimited mileage,” but the warranty duration was not established. | The $900 conversion is not equivalent to the shop-installed $2,899 upgrade. “8.0 Amp Cells” is a seller label, not independent evidence of measured capacity or performance. Listing prices and headline warranty terms do not establish the full installed cost or coverage. |
| 2010–2014 | Greentec listed a new-cell pack at $2,095 and displayed a $1,499 sale price for a remanufactured pack; another seller passage cited $1,795 for that remanufactured version. Best Hybrid Batteries listed a pack at $1,749 with “unlimited mileage” advertised, but duration was not established. | The differing remanufactured prices make a current written quote important. A headline price does not confirm fitment, installation, taxes, shipping, a core charge, or warranty coverage. |
| 2019–2022 | Greentec listed an aftermarket pack at $2,499, marked shop-install-only. HondaPartsNow displayed a $3,774.36 OEM battery-set price and a $4,855.34 MSRP. | The $2,499 listing is not a Honda dealer-installed price. HondaPartsNow’s figures are reseller parts-catalog prices, not installed-cost quotes or proof of current availability. Check fitment by VIN. |

Make sure you mean the hybrid traction battery
The high-voltage traction battery is part of the hybrid powertrain and is what the replacement-pack listings above address. The ordinary 12-volt battery is a separate component, with a very different replacement cost.

For example, the market overview reports a Kelley Blue Book estimate of $319–$454 installed for a conventional battery for a 2020 Insight near Fairfax, Virginia. That estimate is for the 12-volt battery, not the hybrid traction pack. Do not use a 12-volt battery estimate to budget for a traction-battery replacement.
Check warranty coverage before paying
Honda’s official electrified-vehicle warranty chart says the high-voltage battery has an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty for abnormal loss of capacity. It also says gradual capacity loss is expected and is not covered; other warranties may provide additional coverage. The chart is a general reference, not a determination of coverage for a particular car. Check the owner’s warranty booklet and ask Honda to verify coverage for your VIN before authorizing paid work.

Honda Malaysia announced a historical regional price of RM3,980 for a replacement nickel-metal battery in a 2011 Insight on June 5, 2013, reduced from RM7,580. The release described the reduction as 47% and said the replacement price was subject to change. It also described an extended Insight warranty of up to eight years with unlimited mileage, subject to terms. Those were Malaysia-specific terms and prices from 2013; they are not current U.S. prices and should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.

How to get a quote that reflects your actual cost
- Confirm the problem and component. Ask a Honda dealer or qualified hybrid shop to diagnose the vehicle and specify whether the fault is in the high-voltage traction battery or the 12-volt battery.
- Request a VIN-specific quote. Provide the VIN and model year, and ask the shop to confirm that the proposed pack fits your exact vehicle.
- Identify the battery and its condition. Have the quote state whether the pack is OEM, used, remanufactured, new-cell, or a conversion product, and identify its source.
- Ask what the price includes. Require separate amounts for the pack, diagnostic work, installation labor, shipping, tax, and any core charge. Confirm whether the advertised price is parts-only or installed.
- Get warranty terms in writing. Check the duration, mileage limits, covered parts and labor, exclusions, and who handles warranty service. A headline such as “unlimited mileage” does not establish the warranty duration.
- Compare equivalent offers. Compare quotes for the same VIN fitment, product type, installation scope, and warranty terms—not just the headline price.
The available listings do not establish a current dealer-installed OEM traction-battery price for every Insight generation. A written quote based on the car’s VIN, diagnostic findings, mileage, and warranty status is the dependable way to learn what a specific replacement will cost.
