The New York Knicks have the highest average get-in price among NBA teams in RotoWire’s October 2026 comparison: $294.00 for the cheapest available seat. The figure is a fees-included average across each team’s first 25 regular-season home games—not the average price of every seat or a guaranteed price for any particular game.
NBA teams with the most expensive get-in tickets
RotoWire’s October 5, 2026 ranking uses live SeatGeek listings for the cheapest available seat at each team’s first 25 regular-season home games, with fees included. The values below are averages of those get-in prices.
| Rank | Team | Average cheapest available seat |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | New York Knicks | $294.00 |
| 2 | Los Angeles Lakers | $115.44 |
| 3 | Philadelphia 76ers | $109.60 |
| 4 | Boston Celtics | $98.19 |
| 5 | Minnesota Timberwolves | $97.88 |
RotoWire’s 2026–27 NBA ticket comparison reports a league-wide average cheapest seat of $63.17 and a median team average of $49.46 using the same approach. The Knicks’ $294.00 figure is a substantial outlier; it does not mean every Knicks seat or game costs that amount.
What the ranking measures—and what it doesn’t
This is a comparison of the lowest currently listed single-seat price available for sampled home games, averaged across 25 dates. It answers a practical question: what was the typical lowest listed price to get into one of those games at the time of the comparison? It is not a ranking of average or median prices across all seats, completed ticket sales, or premium seats.

Prices vary by matchup, date, section, row, seat, purchase timing, and other factors. The NBA’s ticket FAQ says teams set prices for primary sales and that resale prices are set by sellers. Fees are handled through team and venue ticketing partnerships, so whether fees are included also matters when comparing prices.
Why a specific game can cost much more or less
Matchup and timing change demand
A team’s season-level get-in average does not predict the price of a particular matchup. Ticketmaster’s NBA ticket information identifies the game date and time, city, matchup, seat location, and timing of purchase as factors that affect price. Its general estimate of $100–$200 for an NBA ticket uses a different, unspecified calculation, so it should not be compared directly with this cheapest-seat ranking.

Playoff resale prices are a separate market
Individual marquee games can sit far above regular-season team averages. The Associated Press reported that Victory Live’s transaction analysis found average resale prices of $1,956 for Knicks–Celtics Eastern Conference semifinal Game 3 and $1,716 for Game 4 at Madison Square Garden in May 2025. Those figures are averages of completed resale transactions for two playoff games, not typical Knicks regular-season get-in prices. AP’s report on the playoff ticket prices describes that game-specific comparison.
Check current Knicks prices before budgeting
The Knicks’ listed prices require particular care. AP reported that Madison Square Garden Sports paused 2026–27 individual ticket sales after a pricing mistake, then said it would return to prior-year prices with an average 12% increase and refund the difference to buyers affected by the mistaken prices. An initially reported Knicks opener get-in price above $1,000 should therefore not be treated as a settled current price. Check the listing for the exact game before making plans. AP’s report on the Knicks pricing correction covers the change.

How to compare tickets for your game
- Choose the exact matchup and date. A season average cannot tell you the current lowest price for one game.
- Compare the same kind of price. Distinguish a get-in listing from an all-seat average or completed-sale average.
- Check whether the listing is primary or resale. Teams set primary ticket prices; resale sellers set their own prices.
- Include fees and seat location. Compare the final checkout cost for seats in similar sections, rather than mixing fee-inclusive and fee-exclusive listings.
- Recheck before buying. Listings can change as demand and available inventory shift.
NBATickets.com links to official team primary-ticket options and approved resale listings. Its FAQ describes Ticketmaster as the NBA’s official ticketing partner and explains that teams work with their chosen primary ticketing partner. Ticketmaster says 2026–27 NBA tickets are available; availability and price depend on the specific listing.
