The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Plus is not currently verified at 40% off. In a U.S. price check on August 18, 2026, Amazon listed it for $49.99 with no visible discount; Target listed it for $39.99, or 20% off its $49.99 reference price. A true 40% discount from $49.99 would put it at about $29.99.

Why the 40% claim may be a model mix-up
Amazon’s official Prime Day 2026 preview advertised the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus at 50% off and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max at 40% off during the June 23–26 event. Those were historical event offers, not current prices as of the August 18 check. The figures suggest a likely mix-up between the two models—or a stale promotion—rather than an active 40% discount on the Plus. Amazon’s Prime Day preview
At the Plus model’s stated $49.99 reference price, 40% off is $19.996 in savings, leaving a price of about $29.99 after rounding. Target’s observed $39.99 price is $10 lower than $49.99, which is 20% off, not 40%. Amazon and Best Buy showed $49.99 with no visible discount.

What the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus is
The retail name is Fire TV Stick 4K Plus; Amazon’s device documentation identifies it as the 2025 model. Its build model is AFTMA08C15, and the Amazon retail listing uses ASIN B0F7Z4QZTT. It is distinct from the 4K Max and the 4K Select. Amazon’s Fire TV device specifications
The Plus has Fire OS 8, software at the Android 11 level, a MediaTek MT8696D processor with quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 CPU up to 1.7GHz, 2GB LPDDR4 RAM, 8GB storage and Wi-Fi 6. Amazon lists 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and an Alexa Voice Remote with compatible TV and audio-device controls. Its retail listing also promotes AI-powered Fire TV Search and access to free and live TV.
What you get from the Plus—and what depends on your setup
Picture and sound formats
Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos are capabilities, not guarantees that every show will use those formats. You need compatible content, a compatible TV or audio system, and a working HDMI path through any receiver, switch or other equipment. Subscription tier can also affect whether a service offers a title in 4K or a particular format. An HD-only TV will not display 4K.

Wi-Fi 6
Wi-Fi 6 can help manage traffic on a compatible network, but it cannot fix weak signal, a congested connection or insufficient internet service. Actual streaming depends on router placement, signal quality, network load, your internet plan and the streaming service’s bitrate.
Storage and apps
The Plus has 8GB of advertised storage. The operating system and preinstalled software use some of that capacity, so it is not all available for additional apps. It should be enough for ordinary streaming needs, but app-heavy households and people who want more room should compare the 4K Max, which has 16GB.
Remote, free TV and cloud gaming
The included Alexa Voice Remote can control power and volume on compatible TVs, soundbars and receivers; compatibility is not universal. Free and live TV options do not mean paid streaming subscriptions are included. Xbox cloud gaming is also different from running games locally: it depends on an eligible Game Pass plan and titles, a supported controller, a suitable internet connection and service availability in your region.

Is the 4K Plus worth buying at these prices?
These price bands are value judgments based on the listed price and observed features, not independent performance tests.
| Price | How to judge it |
|---|---|
| $29.99 or less | Excellent value if you want a 4K Fire TV device. |
| $39.99 | A good price, but not exceptional; this was Target’s observed price. |
| $49.99 | Fair regular price, not a verified 40% deal. Compare the 4K Max before buying. |
| Above $49.99 | Compare the Max and other streaming platforms rather than paying more for the Plus by default. |
Buy it if
- You have a 4K TV whose built-in apps are slow or unsatisfactory.
- You already use Alexa, Prime Video or Fire TV and want an inexpensive way to keep that setup.
- You want Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos support and have compatible equipment and content.
- You are replacing an older streaming stick and can get the Plus near $30–$40.
Skip it if
- Your TV is HD-only and you do not expect to upgrade.
- You already own a responsive 4K streaming device and do not need Fire TV-specific features.
- You want more storage or Amazon’s fastest stick-class hardware.
- You prefer another platform, need reliable streaming without adequate Wi-Fi, or expect paid services to come free with the device.
Should you pay more for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max?
The 4K Max is the sensible comparison if the Plus is near full price and you want more room for apps or newer wireless capability. Amazon’s device specifications list 16GB of storage and Wi-Fi 6E for the second-generation 4K Max, compared with 8GB and Wi-Fi 6 on the Plus. Best Buy showed the 4K Max at $59.99 during the check, a $10 difference from the Plus at $49.99. Whether that premium is worthwhile depends on your app use and whether your router supports Wi-Fi 6E; it is unnecessary if you only want basic streaming at the lowest cost.
Other streaming devices to compare
| Device | Observed price | Consider it if |
|---|---|---|
| Fire TV Stick 4K Select | $39.99 at Best Buy during the check | You want a lower-priced 4K Fire TV option. Confirm the current feature set if Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos or other Plus-specific capabilities matter to you. |
| Roku Streaming Stick 4K | $49.99 at Best Buy during the check | You prefer Roku’s platform or want a competing stick with Dolby Vision. It may be a less natural fit if you rely on Alexa or Amazon services. |
| Google TV Streamer 4K | $99.99 at Best Buy during the check | You use Google services and prefer a set-top-box design; it costs more than the sub-$50 options. |
| Apple TV 4K | $249.99 at Best Buy during the check | You are invested in Apple’s ecosystem and want a premium option; it is a much larger outlay for basic streaming. |
Comparison prices are retailer listings observed August 18, 2026, and may change. The Fire TV devices also differ in features; a lower price alone does not make the Select a like-for-like substitute.

Check the listing before you buy
Fire TV product names are easy to confuse. Verify the exact model and checkout details, especially if the price you see does not match the advertised discount.
- Confirm the title says Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and, where available, match ASIN B0F7Z4QZTT; do not assume a listing for the 4K Max, 4K Select or older 4K stick is the same model.
- Check the selected color or bundle, seller, fulfillment details and whether the item is new rather than open-box or clearance stock.
- Look for a coupon checkbox and read whether the price requires Prime membership or another condition.
- Review the final cart price before tax and shipping, along with the return policy and delivery estimate.
Troubleshoot picture, sound or remote issues
The TV does not show 4K
- Confirm the TV’s HDMI input supports the needed resolution and that the stick is connected through a compatible receiver or switch.
- Check whether the TV requires an enhanced or deep-color setting for that HDMI input.
- Verify that the title, streaming service and subscription support 4K, and that the connection has enough bandwidth.
Dolby Vision or HDR is missing
- Check that the TV, HDMI port and any cable, switch or receiver in the signal path support the format.
- Confirm the title is offered in that format and your subscription tier includes the relevant quality.
- Review the TV and Fire TV display settings.
The remote does not control TV power or volume
Pair the Alexa Voice Remote during setup and select the correct equipment brand. If compatible-device control still fails, use the TV’s original remote or the Fire TV app where supported.
