Boxing Day deals in 2024 were retailer- and country-specific, and the examples below have all expired. They show where online promotions ran and what was advertised—not which retailer had the objectively best price. To judge a sale, compare the exact product’s price history and checkout total, rather than relying on the discount banner.
Where online Boxing Day promotions ran in 2024
Retailers did not share one sale calendar. Some promotions started before December 26, while others continued into the new year. The dates and products below are historical examples, not current offers.

How to tell whether a Boxing Day deal is worthwhile
Choose the exact item before browsing
Write down the product’s model, size, capacity, colour or other variant you actually want. A sale price is only comparable when the items match. CHOICE recommends planning, checking product reviews and setting a budget.

Compare the amount you will actually pay
Include delivery and other fees, and check whether the offer depends on eligibility, exclusions or limited stock. ACCC Deputy Chair Catriona Lowe urged shoppers to focus on the final price rather than the advertised discount or promotion. ACCC Boxing Day sales guidance
Read the offer carefully and resist pressure
The ACCC identifies potentially misleading practices including countdowns, claims of site-wide discounts that have exclusions, poorly displayed “up to” claims and misleading was/now prices. South Australia’s Consumer and Business Services also warns about hidden checkout fees and scarcity pop-ups. A countdown or large headline discount is not evidence that the deal is unusually good.

Check the seller, delivery and return terms
Confirm who is selling and shipping the product, whether it is new or otherwise described, and what the seller’s return and warranty terms say. For online shopping in Australia, verify the retailer’s URL, be cautious about unusually low prices and unusual payment methods such as wire transfers, and do not let urgency pop-ups rush you. In Australia, online buyers have the same Australian Consumer Law consumer-guarantee rights as in-store buyers. Those guarantees can cover matters such as acceptable quality, matching the description and fitness for purpose; the appropriate remedy and timing depend on the product and circumstances. A retailer is not generally required to accept a return simply because a customer changed their mind, so check its voluntary returns policy before buying. CHOICE advises keeping the receipt and packaging if a change-of-mind return may be needed. Consumer and Business Services South Australia and CHOICE’s guide to Christmas sales and shopping rights
