In reporting published in December 2024, analyst Edison Yu forecast a launch in the first half of 2025 at less than $30,000 including U.S. subsidies. The same report put the price at $37,499 if the U.S. electric-vehicle tax credit disappeared. Tesla later confirmed work on more affordable vehicles, but the cited company updates did not identify one as Model Q or confirm either price.
What Deutsche Bank actually forecast
InsideEVs reported that Deutsche Bank analysts used “Model Q” as shorthand after a meeting involving Tesla investor-relations chief Travis Axelrod. The reporting explicitly cautioned that the label might not be the vehicle’s final name.
“The new Tesla model (we refer to as ‘Model Q’) should launch in 1H25 and will be priced <$30k including subsidies (i.e., $37,499 if US EV tax credit goes away).”
That sentence is an attributed analyst forecast reproduced by automotive reporting, not a Tesla specification release. The underlying Deutsche Bank note was not publicly available in the consulted material.

How the two price figures fit together
| Reported figure | What it means | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Under $30,000 | Estimated customer price including U.S. subsidies | Deutsche Bank forecast reported in December 2024; not a confirmed Tesla MSRP |
| $37,499 | Estimated price if the U.S. EV tax credit were unavailable | Alternative figure in the same reported forecast; not a confirmed Tesla MSRP |
For a household budget, the important distinction is that the lower number was conditional on subsidies. It should not be treated as the vehicle’s sticker price, a guaranteed out-of-pocket cost, or a price that applies in every country.
Was the first-half-2025 launch confirmed?
No. Deutsche Bank’s reported window was the first half of 2025, which was a forward-looking estimate rather than proof that a car called Model Q launched during that period.

Tesla’s Q4 2024 update
Tesla said preparations were under way at its existing factories for new products in 2025, including more affordable models. That statement supported the broad direction of the forecast but did not name Model Q, give specifications, or publish a price.
Tesla’s Q2 2025 update
Tesla later said it had built the first units of a more affordable model in June and planned volume production in the second half of 2025. The cited passage again did not call the vehicle Model Q. This is evidence of development and planned production, not confirmation of the Deutsche Bank name, price, or first-half delivery schedule.

Is “Model Q” Tesla’s official name?
There is no confirmation in the cited material that Tesla adopted Model Q as an official product name. It was the analysts’ label, and the reporting said it might not be final. Tesla’s official updates discussed affordable products generically.

What is—and is not—known about the vehicle
Established by the cited statements
- Deutsche Bank reportedly expected a more affordable Tesla in the first half of 2025.
- The reported estimate was under $30,000 after U.S. subsidies, or $37,499 if the U.S. EV credit went away.
- Tesla described preparations for more affordable products and later reported first builds in June 2025, with volume production planned for the second half of that year.
- Tesla’s filings described using existing factories and production lines for more affordable products.
Not established
- An official Tesla model called Model Q.
- A confirmed MSRP, final delivery date, range, battery, performance, dimensions, or trim structure.
- Accessory compatibility with Model 3, Model Y, or any other Tesla.
- A guarantee that a buyer would qualify for, or receive, the subsidy assumed in the under-$30,000 estimate.
What prospective buyers should do with the claim
- Treat $30,000 as an after-subsidy forecast, not a quote. Keep the reported $37,499 figure in mind when stress-testing a budget without the U.S. credit.
- Wait for Tesla’s formal announcement. Confirm the official name, market, eligibility rules, order price, and delivery timing before making a deposit or selling an existing vehicle.
- Do not buy accessories based on the nickname. Without a confirmed design, compatibility with Model 3 or Model Y parts is unknown.
- Check the final transaction cost. Once Tesla publishes a vehicle, evaluate taxes, registration, destination and other mandatory charges separately from any advertised vehicle price.
