The claim that Elon Musk’s Tesla restaurant “remains empty” describes an earlier stage, not the site’s current status. Tesla says it opened its first California Tesla Diner in 2025, and its current pages describe the West Hollywood location and visitor services. The available sources do not identify the food suppliers said to have backed out or explain why they withdrew.
What changed after the “remains empty” report?
Tech Times published the report behind the headline on March 24, 2025, describing the planned restaurant as vacant and reporting that food suppliers had backed out. That is what the article reported at the time; the available evidence does not include supplier statements independently confirming the withdrawals. Tech Times’ March 24, 2025 report
Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K, filed in 2026, says: “In 2025, we opened the first Tesla Diner in California, which offers Supercharging as well as Tesla themed food and merchandise.” That confirms an opening during 2025, but does not specify the exact date. Tesla’s current diner and support pages describe the West Hollywood site as operating. Tesla 2025 Form 10-K
What is open at the West Hollywood Tesla Diner?
Tesla lists the diner at 7001 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, California 90038. Its diner page presents the site as a dining venue, Supercharging station and drive-in experience, with 250+ dining seats, 80 V4 Supercharger stalls, rooftop seating, two 20-meter LED screens, in-vehicle ordering and diner-exclusive merchandise. These are Tesla’s published descriptions and figures, not independent operating measurements. Tesla Diner

Hours and visitor access: what Tesla says
Tesla’s Support page says the site is open to the public from 6 a.m. to midnight, while ordering from a Tesla vehicle is available 24/7. It says visitors can dine inside, on the rooftop Skypad or car-side, and that reservations are not available. Tesla’s diner page separately advertises 24/7 dining. Because those descriptions are not identical, check Tesla’s current information before planning a visit rather than treating the hours as a single settled schedule. Tesla Diner Support
Tesla Support also says charging is not required to eat there. It says non-Tesla EVs can charge if they are NACS-enabled and use an adapter. Consult Tesla’s support information for current access and charging details.

Why did food suppliers back out?
The available sources do not establish why any supplier withdrew, and they do not name the suppliers or include an attributable statement from them. It would be speculation to assign a cause—such as contract terms, menu choices or business concerns—or to connect the reported withdrawals to the diner’s later opening. The confirmed update is narrower: Tesla says the California diner opened in 2025.
