Three Pacific Northwest technology companies reported notable leadership changes in January 2024: Activision Publishing named a new chief technology officer, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s incoming CFO Marie Myers stepped down from F5’s board, and Athira Pharma’s chief medical officer, Hans J. Moebius, retired while remaining with the company as a senior scientific adviser.
These are historical personnel changes reported on January 8, 2024—not new developments as of September 2026. The moves also represent three different kinds of transition: an operating-executive appointment, a board resignation connected with a new executive job, and a retirement followed by an advisory role.

Activision names a new technology chief
GeekWire reported that Natalya Tatarchuk joined Activision Publishing as chief technology officer. The role covered technology goals across Activision’s game portfolio, including Call of Duty.

Tatarchuk came from Unity, where she had been a vice president, and previously spent nearly eight years at Bungie. Her Bungie work was associated with major franchises including Destiny and Halo. That background is relevant to a technology-leadership role spanning game engines, graphics, development tools, online systems and other infrastructure, although the available report does not assign her responsibility for every Microsoft, Xbox or Activision Blizzard technology function.
#1 Best Overall
There is an important name discrepancy for anyone updating or citing this item. The 2024 report uses Natalya Tatarchuk, while Activision’s current leadership page lists “Natasha Tatarchuck” as senior vice president and chief technology officer. The two entries should not be treated as separate executives without further confirmation. The current page confirms that a senior vice president/CTO listing exists, but it does not establish the original appointment date or resolve the spelling difference.
The appointment also should not be described as the departure of former CTO Michael Vance. GeekWire said Vance remained at Activision. In the company’s current organizational context, Activision’s leadership page highlights franchises such as Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. That provides context for the breadth of the technology portfolio, but not evidence that the CTO oversees Microsoft’s or Xbox’s entire technical organization.
Marie Myers leaves F5’s board for HPE CFO role
Marie Myers stepped down from F5’s board of directors effective January 3, 2024, after taking a new position as chief financial officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, according to the January 8 report.
Myers had joined F5’s board in 2019. Her move is best described as a board resignation connected with a new senior executive appointment at another technology company—not as a departure from F5 employment or an internal F5 promotion. The available coverage does not say that the resignation resulted from a dispute, misconduct allegation or strategic disagreement.
Rank #3
It also does not establish whether F5 immediately appointed a replacement director or reduced the board’s size. Those governance details should not be inferred from the resignation alone. F5’s board change is notable because directors’ outside executive commitments can affect time, independence and potential conflicts, but the reported facts do not support a stronger conclusion about its impact.
Hans J. Moebius retires as Athira’s medical chief
Dr. Hans J. Moebius retired from his position as Athira Pharma’s chief medical officer, GeekWire reported. Athira began searching for a replacement, while Moebius stayed involved as a senior scientific adviser.
Rank #4
This was therefore a retirement from the operating CMO role, not necessarily a complete departure from Athira. The advisory arrangement allowed the company to retain his scientific input while looking for new medical leadership.
Athira was described as a Seattle biotech developing therapies for Alzheimer’s disease. The executive transition alone does not establish any change in the status, prospects or regulatory path of a particular drug candidate. Likewise, short-term stock-performance claims from the original roundup are omitted here because market returns require exact dates, prices and methodology to be meaningful.

What the three moves show
The January 2024 roundup combined three distinct personnel events:
- Operating leadership: Activision brought in an experienced game-technology executive for its CTO role.
- Corporate governance: Myers left F5’s board after accepting the CFO position at HPE.
- Continuity through transition: Moebius retired as Athira’s CMO but remained available as a scientific adviser.
Nothing in the reported information indicates that these changes were part of a coordinated regional reshuffle. For current reporting, each organization’s latest leadership page, regulatory filing or company announcement should be checked separately—particularly for Tatarchuk’s official name and title, Myers’s current relationship with F5, F5’s board composition, and Athira’s eventual CMO appointment.
