The SWAYAM July 2024 semester exam application window is closed. NTA first set an October 31, 2024 deadline, then extended the application and fee-payment deadline to November 4, 2024, at 11:50 p.m. The old exam-application portal is not a current application link. To find courses available now, use the SWAYAM website and check the details on each course page.

What the July 2024 deadline covered

The NTA notices concerned applications for the July 2024 semester certification examinations—not one platform-wide deadline to enroll in every July 2024 course. NTA’s October 11, 2024 notice invited applications for 525 courses and originally set October 31 as the application and fee-payment deadline. On October 30, NTA extended both to November 4 at 11:50 p.m.; the application-correction window was November 5–6, 2024. These dates have passed. NTA’s SWAYAM exam portal should not be treated as an open application for that session.

Exam application and course enrollment are different

Enrolling in a course gives a learner access to its learning materials; applying for its certification exam is a separate step. Course enrollment dates depend on the individual course. For example, the CEC July 2024 listings included courses with enrollment ending August 31, courses ending October 31, and examinations scheduled on different December dates. Those are course-specific examples, not a common SWAYAM timetable. CEC’s July 2024 course list illustrates the variation.

How to find and assess a current SWAYAM course

  1. Register or sign in on SWAYAM. Use the platform’s learner registration and sign-in options at swayam.gov.in.
  2. Search the catalog. Search by keyword or browse by category, then open a course that fits your subject and goals.
  3. Read the individual course page. Check the syllabus, eligibility, start and end dates, enrollment deadline, credit information, assessment, exam date and mode, and certificate requirements. SWAYAM’s FAQ says enrollment in a scheduled course closes once it starts; self-paced courses do not have an enrollment deadline. Details can differ by national coordinator and semester, so use the course page and coordinator’s information for the specific offering. SWAYAM FAQ
  4. Decide whether you want only to study or also seek a certificate. SWAYAM says course access is free. A certificate requires taking a proctored examination for a fee; the relevant course page or coordinator specifies the applicable fee and criteria. You do not need to assume the same fee or requirements apply to every course.
  5. Apply for the exam only when the applicable window is announced. Follow the course coordinator’s instructions and current official notices. The 2024 NTA dates and fees are historical, not current application terms.

Check credit acceptance with your institution

Taking a SWAYAM course does not automatically mean its credits will count toward every degree. SWAYAM advises college students to confirm credit arrangements with their college. The UGC framework describes how universities may adopt SWAYAM courses and coordinate examinations and credit transfer; the learner’s institution determines how its rules apply. Check with your college or university before relying on a course for degree credit. UGC’s SWAYAM framework

Historical exam fee in the original NTA notice

The original 2024 NTA notice listed ₹750 per course for General (UR) candidates and ₹600 for each additional course. These were historical fees for that notice and category; other categories had separate fees, and service charges could apply. Do not use these amounts as a current price—check the relevant current course and exam instructions.
