No: the claim that Dejphon Chansiri was closing in on fresh investment is outdated. It described reports from 2024, when he was seeking investors while intending to retain control. Sheffield Wednesday entered administration in October 2025 and was sold to Arise Capital Partners LLC in May 2026. The EFL confirmed the completed transfer and the club’s exit from administration.
What became of the fresh-investment story?
In June 2024, reporting described Chansiri as seeking investors without wanting to give up full control. That was a proposed minority-investment model, not a completed sale or proof that a deal had been agreed. An October 2024 report quoted football finance expert Adam Williams on the risks of minority investment without operational influence. Those accounts describe the situation at the time; they do not establish the terms or outcome of the later transaction. The June 2024 report and the October 2024 analysis provide that historical context.

Who bought Sheffield Wednesday, and when did the sale complete?
The buyer was Arise Capital Partners LLC, a consortium identified as David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin. On 10 March 2026, the joint administrators named Arise as preferred bidder, citing a substantial deposit and evidence of funds. The exclusivity agreement provided for Arise to fund trading losses after eight weeks if the transaction had not completed by then. The administrators’ preferred-bidder announcement set out those terms.
On 2 May 2026, the EFL said the administrators had concluded an agreement to transfer the club’s assets to Arise. The league confirmed that the club was under new ownership and out of administration; the administrators separately confirmed the completed sale. The EFL announcement and the administrators’ sale confirmation record the completion. BBC Sport reported that the sale ended Chansiri’s ownership after more than six months in administration. BBC Sport’s report gives that context.

What does the sale mean for the club?
Points and league conditions
The EFL chose not to impose a 15-point deduction when the club exited administration. That does not mean the club has no financial restrictions: it remains subject to a budget restriction for the next two seasons. Under the EFL’s announcement, Sheffield Wednesday can register players in accordance with a business plan agreed with the new ownership. The league’s statement sets out these conditions.
What is known about the new owners’ funding?
The official sale announcements establish the buyer and completion, but do not state a transaction price or quantify a future investment commitment. The administrators’ reference to a substantial deposit and evidence of funds concerned Arise’s preferred-bidder status; it is not a published sale price or a promise of a specified level of future spending. The preferred-bidder announcement, the EFL statement and the administrators’ confirmation do not itemize those figures.
Why was the club in administration?
In June 2025, the EFL said the club and Chansiri had been charged over failures to meet player wage payment obligations in March and May 2025. This was the league’s statement about charges, not a court finding. The EFL’s June 2025 statement describes the charges.
