The buyer named by the English Football League and the joint administrators is Arise Capital Partners LLC. The EFL described it as a consortium led by David Storch, alongside Michael Storch and Tom Costin. The official statements do not call the buyer “Storch Group.”

Has the takeover been completed?
Yes. On 2 May 2026, the EFL said the administrators had formally concluded an agreement with Arise Capital Partners LLC to transfer the club’s assets. BTG, the joint administrators, announced successful completion of the sale on 5 May 2026. The EFL also said Wednesday had met the relevant league requirements and was no longer regarded as being in administration.

These announcements supersede earlier reports describing a proposed takeover. BBC Sport reported on 11 March 2026 that Storch’s group was the preferred bidder, had paid a substantial deposit and supplied evidence of funds, but that completion was still pending. BBC Sport’s 11 March report.
Is the £18m purchase price confirmed?
No. The EFL and administrators’ announcements do not state a purchase price or confirm an £18m bid. The figure in the earlier headline should therefore be treated as unverified, not as the confirmed value of the completed sale.

Will Sheffield Wednesday receive a points deduction?
The EFL said it would not impose the 15-point deduction connected with the club’s exit from administration. The administrators separately said Wednesday would begin the upcoming season on zero points. Those are distinct statements: the waiver means no 15-point deduction for exiting administration, while zero points is the stated starting position for the upcoming season.

The EFL said Wednesday would remain under a budget restriction for the next two seasons. It may sign players in accordance with an agreed business plan. How the takeover process unfolded
- 25 February 2026: BBC Sport reported that a consortium led by James Bord had withdrawn its proposed bid, while a Storch-led group remained interested. This was a separate group and an earlier stage of the process. BBC Sport’s report on the withdrawn bid.
