The company is also courting creators and brands, but the available public evidence shows event and partnership activity—not a formal marketer-recruitment campaign, an open job, or a public affiliate program.
How does Brick work?
Brick is a commitment device, not a replacement phone. In its app, a user selects apps and sets up modes for situations such as deep work, family time, training, creative time, study, social time, or sleep. To activate a block, the user taps the phone against the Brick device. To reconnect, the user returns to the device and scans again. The intended intervention is a deliberate pause: the phone remains available for useful functions, while selected apps become less convenient to reach.

Brick says there is no battery to charge and that one device can be used with multiple phones. These are company product claims. The company lists support for Android 12.0 or later and iOS 18.0 or later; check the current compatibility information before buying, since operating-system support can change. What problem is Brick trying to solve?
Brick’s pitch is aimed at familiar habits: reaching for a phone immediately after waking, opening it out of boredom, or letting notifications pull attention away from another task. Those are questions posed in the company’s digital-health challenge, not findings from an independent survey. The product’s premise is that adding a physical step can interrupt reflexive checking without requiring someone to abandon a smartphone.
#1 Best Overall
Brick contrasts its device with built-in screen-time limits, arguing that software restrictions can be easier to bypass. That is the company’s positioning, not proof that Apple Screen Time or Android Digital Wellbeing is universally ineffective. The practical distinction is that Brick’s block is activated and ended through a separate physical device, adding friction; people should choose a tool based on how they use their phone and how much flexibility they need.
Does Brick actually stop scrolling?
Brick’s website reports that 95% or more of users felt less distracted, 93% or more felt more focused, and 99% or more reduced screen time, based on a survey of 3,500 or more users. The page does not state when the survey was conducted, how respondents were recruited, what questions they answered, or how the outcomes were calculated. These are vendor-published survey results, not independent efficacy findings. Brick’s official product page

One Marie Claire UK writer described using custom modes during a month with Brick and reported feeling more focused and present. The account also noted situations where work required social-media access and the writer had to unblock the phone. It illustrates a real trade-off—stronger friction can help create boundaries but can also interrupt legitimate access—without establishing a general effect on productivity, health, or sleep. Brick’s support challenge says, “We spend an average of four hours a day on our phones — that’s nearly 60 full days a year.” The page does not identify an underlying study, date, or method, so this should be understood as a company statement rather than a verified population statistic. How is Brick different from Screen Time and other digital-wellbeing tools?
A 2025 Journal of Macromarketing analysis examined 320 digital-wellbeing market offerings, including apps and blocking tools, tangible products such as Faraday cages and dumbphones, services such as retreats, and information products. It frames the category as a negotiation between technology’s useful and distracting sides, rather than a simple call to reject technology. It also raises a broader concern: these products may help individuals while leaving the incentives that compete for attention largely unchanged. The paper is market analysis, not a head-to-head test of Brick against built-in phone controls. Silchenko, “Technology Dualities and Paradoxes in Digital Well-Being”
| Approach | How it creates friction | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Brick | Selected apps are blocked after activation with the physical Brick; the user returns to it to reconnect. | Requires a compatible phone and access to the separate device. Brick’s claim that its approach is harder to bypass is company positioning, not a comparative trial. |
| Built-in controls | Apple Screen Time or Android Digital Wellbeing provides software-based controls; exact features depend on the phone and settings. | No separate Brick device is needed, but how readily restrictions can be changed depends on setup and the user’s own habits. |
| Other blockers or physical commitment devices | May use app restrictions, schedules, location, or a physical barrier, depending on the product. | Compare override steps, compatibility, access to essential phone functions, and any price or recurring fee. The cited market analysis identifies a range of approaches but does not establish which is most effective. |
What does Brick cost, and what should buyers check?
At the time its storefront was accessed on October 13, 2026, Brick listed the device at $59 and a Brick Case at $39, and advertised a 30-day money-back guarantee. Prices, availability, and return terms can change, so confirm them on the store before purchasing. The Case is an accessory, not a second blocking system. Brick’s official storefront

- Confirm that the phone meets the currently listed operating-system requirements.
- Decide which apps genuinely need to be blocked and which must remain available for work, navigation, family, or urgent communication.
- Plan where the Brick device will live during a session. The physical step only adds friction if reaching the device is less automatic than opening the app.
- Review current price, return terms, and the company’s explanation of what the product blocks before ordering.
Why is Brick courting creators and brands?
Brick’s public LinkedIn posts describe activity at Cannes Lions, including connections with talent and creators through United Talent Agency, and mention OpenAI and Gamma in the context of that event. Posts also refer to Willpower and Billboard around SXSW and to activations at New York Tech Week. The company page includes a freelance graphic-designer solicitation as well. These examples place Brick in conversations with people and organizations near the attention economy, which is a natural audience for a product selling more intentional phone use. What the product can—and cannot—promise
Brick addresses an individual behavior by making access to chosen apps less immediate. It does not remove notifications or attention-seeking incentives from the wider digital environment, and the available materials do not establish that using it produces lasting behavior change for everyone. For someone who wants a physical cue and can tolerate occasionally returning to the device to regain access, the mechanism is concrete. For someone whose work or caregiving depends on frequent app access, the same friction may be a poor fit unless modes are configured carefully.
