Saudia has not publicly selected aircraft for a 150-jet order. Bloomberg reported on February 5, 2026, that the airline was in early discussions with Boeing and Airbus for at least 150 narrowbody and widebody aircraft, but that models and quantities had not been decided. The figure describes the reported scale of negotiations—not a signed order or a confirmed shopping list.
That leaves room to discuss possible fleet roles and aircraft families, but not to say which planes Saudia will buy. Here is what the reporting establishes, how the airline’s confirmed fleet commitments provide context, and where speculation begins.
What does the 150-jet report actually say?
Bloomberg reported that Saudia was in early talks with Boeing and Airbus for at least 150 narrowbody and widebody jets, citing people familiar with the private discussions. The same account said Saudia was studying both manufacturers’ products and had not chosen aircraft types or quantities. Bloomberg’s February 5, 2026 report is the basis for the prospective deal’s reported size and status.
A Reuters account carried by Investing.com repeated the Bloomberg-sourced report. It corroborates what was publicly reported, but it is not a separate announcement from Saudia, Boeing, or Airbus.

So, “which aircraft are included?” has no confirmed model-by-model answer in the cited reporting. Any list of specific planes is either fleet context or scenario analysis, not an official shortlist.
Which aircraft might fit the broad fleet roles?
The report identifies two broad categories rather than specific missions. A narrowbody is a single-aisle aircraft suited to shorter or lower-demand routes; a widebody is a larger twin-aisle aircraft that can serve higher-capacity or longer-range operations. Those roles help explain what a large fleet purchase could address, but the report does not say how many aircraft Saudia is considering for either category.

Narrowbodies: single-aisle capacity and fleet commonality
Saudia Group has confirmed Airbus A320neo-family commitments, making that family relevant to any discussion of the group’s narrowbody fleet. Airbus announced in May 2024 that the group had signed a firm order for 105 aircraft: 12 A320neo and 93 A321neo. This is a group order, represented by Saudia and its low-cost subsidiary flyadeal; it does not mean all 105 aircraft are for Saudia’s mainline operation. The existing commitment makes Airbus aircraft part of the context, but it does not establish that Airbus is favored in the reported negotiations.
A new narrowbody order could, in principle, support route growth, replacement, or both. Without a published fleet plan or aircraft allocation, there is no sound basis for assigning particular routes or quantities to a possible A320neo-family purchase—or for claiming that Saudia will choose it over a Boeing alternative.

Widebodies: larger-capacity or longer-range flying
The report’s widebody reference leaves open a broad range of possible fleet needs, from additional capacity to longer-range service. It does not identify a specific Boeing or Airbus widebody family. AeroTime later discussed Boeing 777X and 787 variants as possibilities raised by analysts, while describing the talks as unconfirmed. Those names are speculative possibilities, not types confirmed by Saudia or in the Bloomberg account.
Airbus also announced in April 2025 that Saudia Group had disclosed an order for ten A330-900 aircraft for flyadeal. That is a separate group commitment for the low-cost carrier; it is not a Saudia mainline order and does not confirm an A330neo purchase as part of the reported 150-plus discussions.

How the reported talks differ from confirmed fleet commitments
The distinction between a reported negotiation and a confirmed order matters especially because Saudia Group includes more than one airline. Group-level commitments should not automatically be attributed to Saudia’s mainline fleet, and Riyadh Air is a separate carrier with its own orders.
| Announcement | What was reported | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Bloomberg, February 5, 2026 | Early talks with Boeing and Airbus for at least 150 narrowbody and widebody jets | A reported negotiating scale; no selected models, quantities, split, price, schedule, or finalized contract were established. |
| Airbus, May 2024 | Saudia Group firm order for 105 A320neo-family aircraft: 12 A320neo and 93 A321neo | A confirmed group order represented by Saudia and flyadeal, not 105 aircraft assigned solely to Saudia mainline. |
| Airbus, April 2025 | Saudia Group disclosure of ten A330-900 aircraft for flyadeal | A separate commitment for the low-cost subsidiary, not confirmation of a Saudia mainline widebody order in the talks. |
| Saudi Press Agency, June 1, 2026 | Saudia finalized arrangements to receive 12 new Airbus aircraft in 2026; the update mentioned A321neo deliveries and the introduction of Saudia’s first A321XLR | Evidence of ongoing Airbus fleet activity, not proof that the larger reported negotiations had concluded. |
The announcements refer to different airlines, dates, and commitments. In particular, the 2026 delivery update does not convert the earlier talks into a confirmed 150-aircraft order.

What can—and cannot—be concluded about Boeing and Airbus?
The most defensible comparison is by possible role, not by predicting a winner. Saudia was reported to be studying products from both manufacturers, but the public account did not identify a model contest, manufacturer allocation, or final choice. Its confirmed Airbus group commitments are useful fleet context; they do not prove an Airbus preference. Boeing’s presence in the reported talks likewise does not prove that Saudia will place a Boeing order.
- Known: the reported discussions involved both manufacturers and covered narrowbody and widebody aircraft.
- Context: Saudia Group has confirmed Airbus commitments, including A320neo-family aircraft, while flyadeal has a separate A330-900 commitment.
- Speculation: specific models, quantities, and any manufacturer split for the reported deal remain unconfirmed. Boeing 777X and 787 variants were floated by analysts in AeroTime’s coverage, not announced as Saudia’s shortlist.
Because no price, delivery calendar, or final order terms are established in the cited reports, the available information also does not support a reliable estimate of the deal’s cost or when any aircraft from it would enter service.
