A Warnbro woman thought her Saturday Lotto win was $1,000. It was actually a $1.2 million Division One prize, Lotterywest reported on 8 May 2025. The couple’s ticket had been sold at Warnbro News and Gifts in early April.
How the couple discovered the prize
The woman asked the retailer how to collect what she believed was a $1,000 win. Instead of treating it as an ordinary small-prize claim, the retailer discreetly directed the couple to Lotterywest headquarters because of the prize’s size. Lotterywest’s release and a contemporaneous PerthNow report both describe that direction.
“I said to the retailer how do I collect my $1,000, but it turned out the prize was worth a little more than that,” the unnamed winner said in Lotterywest’s account.

What the couple said they hoped to do
The woman said the first thing that came to mind was helping their children. She also joked that she could now treat the couple’s dog to a fancy haircut. Those were their plans at the time of the report; the sources do not say whether they later spent the money that way.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney summed up the light-hearted detail: “We now have a lucky pup set for a pamper, thanks to this Saturday Lotto win from Warnbro.”
