What happened to Runaway The Label founder Premal Patel?
PerthNow reported on 15 December 2025 that Patel had died at 47 following a brief illness. The Australia Today reported that Runaway The Label’s memorial post gave his dates as 26 November 1978 to 14 December 2025. [PerthNow; The Australia Today]
Runaway The Label’s statement, reproduced by The Australia Today, said: “It is with the deepest sadness that Runaway The Label announces the passing of our visionary founder and CEO.” PerthNow also quoted the brand saying, “The world feels a little less bright without him.” Neither report attributed those words to a named individual. What illness did Premal Patel have?
The illness preceding Patel’s death was not identified. The company said he “passed away peacefully following a brief illness,” but its announcement did not name a diagnosis. [PerthNow]

PerthNow also reported Patel had previously spoken publicly about a serious lung illness that led to hospitalization and an induced coma. According to his account relayed by the outlet, vape fluid was found in his lungs. That was an earlier health episode; the available reporting does not establish it as the cause of his death. Patel’s role at Runaway The Label
Runaway The Label’s founder page identifies Patel as its founder and gives his lifespan as 1978–2025. The company describes its apparel as designed in-house through collaboration between its Sydney designers and production team.
