Jagex paused development of new in-game Pride content for 2025, but it did not say it had removed all previous Pride content. The two games had different plans: Old School RuneScape had no Pride event that year, while RuneScape reran its existing Tales of Pride event without newly developed material.
What happened to RuneScape Pride content in 2025?
PC Gamer reported on June 11, 2025, that Jagex had told staff in April it was pausing work on new in-game Pride content for 2025. The result differed between the two games:

PinkNews also described the Old School RuneScape mini-quest as discontinued for 2025 and Tales of Pride as returning without new content. Its report is corroboration; the details above are also reported by PC Gamer.
Did Jagex remove its previous Pride content?
No. Jagex’s public statement, reproduced by PC Gamer, said previous years’ Pride content remained live. The pause concerned new in-game content for 2025, not a stated removal of earlier content. Jagex also said it supported community-led Pride marches.

Why did the CEO say Pride content was “now controversial”?
PC Gamer reported that CEO Jon Bellamy made the remark during an internal staff Q&A. He reportedly said the content was “now controversial in a way it didn’t used to be” and that the resulting controversy brought more risk than before, which he was personally responsible for managing. This is a reported internal remark, not a quotation from a publicly available company transcript.
That reported explanation should be distinguished from Jagex’s public statement. The company said it had made the decision in April to pause work on new in-game Pride content for 2025. It described its development focus as “crafting worlds that serve what our players have been asking us for, offering immersion, escape, and meaning.” The public statement did not establish that a particular government or political administration was the reason for the decision.

What did Jagex say about Pride support outside the games?
Jagex said it was working with its internal DEI committee to explore broader ways to celebrate Pride, including “possible partnerships and charitable support.” The statement did not name a charity or partner, or announce a specific program. Separately, it said the company was proud to support community-led Pride marches.
