Munich-based industrial robotics company RobCo said on October 5, 2026, that its valuation had exceeded $1 billion and that a transaction combines new investment with a secondary share sale giving long-standing employees liquidity. The company did not disclose the transaction’s total size or how much was primary funding versus employee share sales, so the reported $40 million figure is not confirmed by its announcement.

How much did RobCo raise?

RobCo did not disclose a dollar amount for the October transaction in its October 5, 2026 announcement. The company described both new investment and employee liquidity, but did not quantify either portion. That means the $40 million figure in some descriptions of the deal cannot be treated as verified from the company’s release.

The distinction matters: primary investment goes to the company, while a secondary sale lets existing shareholders sell shares and receive proceeds. The announcement does not say how much new capital RobCo received, how much employees sold, or whether the reported transaction figure refers to one or both components.

What is RobCo’s valuation, and how does it compare with January?

RobCo said its valuation had surpassed $1 billion and had doubled in nine months. Its January 29, 2026 release announced a $100 million Series C co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Lingotto Innovation, but did not state a valuation. A valuation near $500 million in January is therefore an approximate inference from the company’s later statement—not a figure disclosed with the Series C.

A private-company valuation is a financing reference point, not a public-market price or a guarantee that shareholders could sell all their shares at that value. RobCo did not disclose its valuation method or transaction terms in the October release.

What does RobCo make?

RobCo develops industrial robotic arms and automation software for manufacturing. It describes its offering as an Autonomous Manufacturing Platform: modular hardware paired with software for perception, motion planning, and learning. The company says robots can acquire task-specific skills through demonstration and self-learning; these are company descriptions, not independently measured performance results.

Its named workflows include machine tending, palletizing, dispensing, and welding. RobCo says it delivers systems through recurring robotics-as-a-service (RaaS), a business model in which customers access robotics and related services through recurring payments rather than simply buying a standalone arm. The January Series C announcement said the funding would support its Physical AI roadmap, enterprise deployments, and U.S. expansion.

What is Alfie?

Alfie is RobCo’s planned bimanual robot system, intended for work involving variability, precision assembly, and sensitive material handling, as well as intralogistics tasks such as picking, kitting, and palletizing. In April 2026, RobCo said Alfie was in final development and that first customer deployments were planned later that year. In October, it set a planned commercial launch date of March 4, 2027. Those are company roadmap statements; they do not establish that deployments or launch have occurred.

What is RobCo’s Koenig & Bauer partnership?

In June 2026, RobCo and printing-press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer announced a partnership to embed robotics in machinery, initially targeting finishing operations and production systems. Their June 9 announcement said the first installation was planned for the first quarter of 2027. It is an announced deployment plan, not confirmation that the installation is complete.

What is known—and not known—about the October deal?

  • Known: RobCo announced a valuation above $1 billion, new investment, and employee liquidity through a secondary share sale on October 5, 2026.
  • Not disclosed in the company announcement: the transaction’s total dollar amount, the primary-versus-secondary split, the number of shares sold, and the valuation methodology.
  • Investors named: Sequoia, Lightspeed, Greenfield, Kindred, Lingotto, and Promus Ventures, alongside new investors Cherry Ventures and European Tech Collective.

The figures and deal structure above come from RobCo’s announcement; no independently verified revenue, profitability, customer savings, deployment count, or unit economics are established by the financing releases. Separately, a February 2026 report from TUM MIRMI-AIM attributed to RobCo information that its Munich site produced more than 5,000 robot arms per year. That is a company-attributed production figure, not an independently audited output measure.
