No reliable conclusion that RETIK and Bitcoin were the “only two tokens to hold” follows from Bitcoin’s 2024 halving. The halving cut the rate of new bitcoin issuance on a fixed schedule; it did not guarantee a price increase, validate Retik Finance’s proposed utility, or establish that RETIK would amplify BTC’s performance. The recommendation appeared in a TechBullion article dated December 8, 2023, as a forecast—not a demonstrated result.
What the December 2023 article predicted
TechBullion’s David Bryan argued that the April 2024 Bitcoin halving could create bullish momentum for BTC and presented Retik Finance (RETIK) as a second token to hold. The article linked lower new bitcoin issuance to the possibility of rising prices if demand held steady or increased. It also suggested that Retik Finance’s proposed decentralized-finance products could make crypto more usable, encourage adoption, and indirectly contribute to BTC demand.
Those are the article’s claims, not verified outcomes. It described Retik Finance as a new project with a presale, proposed DeFi debit cards, and an ecosystem token. The sources available here do not independently establish that those products were delivered, adopted, or useful, nor do they establish RETIK’s current project status. The article’s assertion that BTC reached approximately $45,000 after announcement of the halving date is likewise reported as its claim, not independently verified here.
What Bitcoin’s halving changes—and what it does not
Bitcoin.org defines a halving as “the scheduled reduction by half of the block subsidy, occurring every 210,000 blocks (roughly every four years).” The schedule makes the issuance of new bitcoin predictable and is associated with a stated supply cap of 21 million bitcoin.

The mechanism changes the amount of new bitcoin issued to miners per block. It does not set demand, dictate when buyers or sellers act, or prescribe a market price. A claim that a smaller flow of newly issued bitcoin will cause a price pump is therefore a market hypothesis, not a protocol fact. The halving schedule alone cannot establish the timing or size of any price response, or guarantee a bull run.
Why the RETIK–BTC connection remains unproven
The forecast relies on two separate propositions: that reduced bitcoin issuance would support BTC’s price, and that Retik Finance’s proposed utility could increase crypto adoption and thereby benefit BTC. The cited material establishes neither proposition as an outcome. In particular, a claim about a project’s intended products is not evidence that those products launched, attracted users, or caused demand for another token.

For a comparison to be meaningful, readers would need evidence on several distinct questions:
- Bitcoin’s issuance design and network maturity: the halving schedule is documented by Bitcoin.org.
- RETIK’s delivered utility: the reviewed material does not verify product delivery, adoption, or token utility.
- Trading and custody: the reviewed material does not establish comparative liquidity or custody arrangements for RETIK and BTC.
- Performance: the reviewed sources do not provide a dependable historical price series for either token around or after the event.
Without that evidence, the proposed synergy should not be treated as a measured relationship or as a basis for calling either token a necessary holding.

How to read a halving-based investment claim
- Separate the protocol fact from the forecast. A scheduled subsidy reduction is verifiable; a predicted price surge is not guaranteed by that schedule.
- Check what is delivered, not just proposed. For a project token, distinguish announced products from independently verifiable availability, use, and utility.
- Look for comparable performance evidence. A dated prediction is not a substitute for verified price history, and a price move occurring after an event does not by itself prove the event caused it.
- Consider downside and custody before buying. Bitcoin.org describes bitcoin as high risk and warns that its price can rise or fall unpredictably over short periods. It advises against storing money in bitcoin that a person cannot afford to lose.
Holding Bitcoin is a separate custody decision
Bitcoin.org describes ordinary Bitcoin use as relying on a mobile app or computer program that provides a personal wallet for sending and receiving bitcoin. A hardware wallet is one category of physical product a reader might investigate, but it is not endorsed by the TechBullion article or by the cited wallet description. Check any specific wallet’s BTC support and security claims independently before relying on it.
