What the figures do—and do not—show
SalarySport describes these as salaries it holds for players, but its reviewed page does not explain how it arrived at each player’s estimate. The list is therefore useful as a third-party estimate of relative weekly pay, not as a disclosure of contract terms. It does not establish bonuses, image-rights payments, take-home pay or other compensation.

The club-level accounts do not verify the individual ranking. BBC Sport reported that Plymouth Argyle’s wage bill for 2024/25 was a record £18 million, up £3 million year on year and equal to 73.7% of revenue. Those are aggregate figures for the club, not a breakdown by player. BBC Sport’s report on the accounts also noted that they did not specify compensation paid to former head coach Wayne Rooney.
A separate club socio-economic report says £16.8 million was paid in salaries to direct employees in 2024/25, explicitly excluding player salaries. That employee figure is not the first-team wage bill. Plymouth Argyle’s socio-economic report distinguishes the categories.

How the estimate differs from earlier and all-time rankings
2024/25 weekly-pay estimate
SalarySport named Jamie Paterson as its highest-paid Plymouth Argyle player estimate for 2024/25, at £19,000 a week. It estimated that season’s 28-player squad wage bill at £134,393 a week, with the top five accounting for 41%. These are historical site estimates in pounds sterling, whereas the 2026/27 list above is displayed in US dollars. The two rankings should not be read as a direct year-on-year pay comparison without consistent currency conversion and methodology. SalarySport’s 2024/25 season page provides that earlier estimate.
Cumulative earnings at the club
A cumulative-earnings list answers a different question from current weekly pay. A SalarySport all-time page describes estimated earnings at Plymouth Argyle through the end of 2025/26, based on 51 players for whom it holds wage information covering 2014–2026. A captured excerpt lists Jamie Paterson (£1.4 million), Ashley Phillips (£1.2 million), Bali Mumba (£1.2 million), Brendan Galloway (£1.1 million), Ryan Hardie (£962,000), Joe Ralls (£941,000), Sam Cosgrove (£936,000), Herbie Kane (£801,000), Mike Cooper (£755,000) and Lorent Tolaj (£728,000) as its first ten. The page was not available for direct review, so treat those excerpted totals as provisional rather than a complete official history. They are not current weekly salaries. SalarySport’s all-time page describes its scope.

Official financial context
Plymouth Argyle Football Club Limited filed group accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025 with Companies House on 23 December 2025. The Companies House filing record establishes the accounts’ filing date; the aggregate wage figures reported from those accounts do not substantiate named-player pay.
In notes published with the accounts, club owner Simon Hallett said: “Our strategy has been based on outsmarting our opponents, not outspending them, and in 2024-25 we failed.” BBC Sport reproduced the statement alongside its report of the club’s financial results. It provides context on the club’s stated financial strategy, not evidence for any individual salary estimate.
