Renault’s heritage auction took place at Flins on 7 December 2025. The sale included about 100 historic vehicles and around 100 related objects, but Renault did not say that the proceeds would directly fund its planned public exhibition centre at Flins. The company described the sale as part of reorganising its collection ahead of the centre’s planned 2027 opening.
What happened at Renault’s Flins auction?
Renault and auction house Artcurial Motorcars held the completed sale at Renault’s historic Flins site on 7 December 2025. Artcurial’s catalog page lists the auction and individual sold lots. Its results include a 1901 Renault Type D sold for €45,752 and a 1998 Type A replica sold for €72,240. Those are individual lot prices, not a definitive total for the sale.
Renault announced about 100 vehicles selected from a collection of more than 800, alongside around 100 other objects. More than 90% of the announced lots were offered without reserve, according to Renault’s sale announcement.
What vehicles and objects were included?
The sale was broader than a collection of race cars. Renault’s examples ranged across road cars, competition vehicles, design studies and memorabilia:

- Rally vehicles, including the Maxi Turbo 5 prototype B0 and Renault 5 GT Turbo Bandama.
- Design and wind-tunnel mock-ups, 1:5-scale concept cars, rare F1 mock-ups and engines.
- Other heritage objects, including racing memorabilia, clocks, boats and a panoramic railcar mock-up.
The examples describe the range of material, not a complete lot list. For a particular vehicle or object, the catalog is the place to check its lot description, sale result and any stated details such as condition or accompanying documents.
Why did Renault sell part of its collection?
Renault said the vehicles being sold were duplicates and that it would retain 600 iconic and unique models, including at least one example of every model in its 125-year history. The company connected the collection reorganisation to preparations for a new heritage exhibition centre at Flins; it did not describe the sale as a disposal of the collection as a whole.

Renault’s announcement does not establish that auction proceeds were earmarked for construction or otherwise directly fund the centre. The confirmed link is that the sale is part of reorganising the collection as Renault prepares the new venue.

Renault plans to open a public exhibition centre at Flins in 2027, with tours and themed exhibitions. The company describes a future collection of several hundred vehicles, more than half of them still running, and a restoration workshop for powertrains and bodywork. Its plans also refer to more than 2,400 linear metres of archives, covering material such as documents, posters, drawings, miniatures, toys, pedal cars, cups, medals and books. Renault has not established an exact opening day, ticketing or booking arrangements in the cited announcement.

Artcurial Motorcars Vice-President Pierre Novikoff said the auction house was “honoured by Renault’s confidence” and excited to organise an auction he expected would be remembered as a major event, in the Renault/Artcurial announcement.
