Rob Couhig’s takeover of Reading FC is not still delayed: the sale to Redwood Holdings Limited was completed and ratified by the English Football League on 14 May 2025. A separate issue remained later. Reading FC said in October 2025 that Couhig was in dispute with the seller, but the club’s published summary did not explain the dispute or say whether it was subsequently resolved.
Has Rob Couhig completed the Reading FC takeover?
Yes. Reading FC announced a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited on 3 May 2025, subject to final legal technicalities. BBC Sport reported on 14 May 2025 that the transaction had been finalised and ratified by the EFL. The club said Redwood acquired 100% of Reading Football Club’s shareholding and that Couhig became chairman. Reading FC’s 3 May statement; BBC Sport’s 14 May report.
That distinction matters: the 3 May announcement described an agreement in principle, while the 14 May report recorded completion. Earlier coverage about exclusivity or obstacles belongs to the sale process before that completion, not evidence of a continuing takeover delay.
Who owns Reading FC now?
Reading FC’s company-details page, accessed on 8 October 2026, states that Redwood Holdings Limited owns the club in its entirety and lists Robert Emmett Couhig Jnr and Todd Trosclair as directors. Redwood is a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, which the club described as owned by Couhig and Trosclair. Reading FC company details; Reading FC’s sale announcement.

Were the stadium and training ground included?
The announced sale covered the club, Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park training ground. The club’s May 2025 announcement described the proposed transaction as including those assets, and the completion announcement reported Redwood’s acquisition of the club’s entire shareholding. Reading FC’s 3 May statement; BBC Sport’s completion report.
What is known about Couhig’s dispute with the seller?
In its summary of a supporters’ Q&A on 2 October 2025, Reading FC reported Couhig as saying he was in dispute with the seller and would keep quiet until Christmas. The summary did not give the dispute’s subject, and it is not a transcript establishing what happened afterward. Reading FC’s Q&A summary.

The available club statement and company record do not establish whether that dispute later changed or ended. The reported dispute is separate from the ownership record: Redwood’s ownership is recorded by the club, but that fact does not reveal the status or outcome of Couhig’s disagreement with the seller.
