Life Electric Vehicles Holdings (Life EV) completed a court-approved purchase of Rad Power Bikes’ brand and certain assets in March 2026. The new owner’s plans included rehiring workers, expanding retail, shifting to U.S. final assembly and offering some affected battery owners a discounted replacement—but the sources available through October 4, 2026, do not establish that those plans were completed.
What did Rad Power Bikes’ new owner acquire?
Life EV announced on March 5, 2026, that it had completed a court-approved asset acquisition covering the Rad Power Bikes brand, intellectual property, inventory and certain operating assets. Its announcement said it would continue U.S. retail operations under the Rad brand and described honoring certain warranties and gift cards under the asset purchase agreement.

This was an asset acquisition, not evidence that Life EV assumed every obligation of the former Rad Power Bikes company. Customers should check directly with the company about a particular warranty or gift card rather than assume all claims or balances transferred.
GeekWire reported on March 6 that the new corporate entity, Rad Life Mobility, was owned by Life EV. CEO Robert Provost called the effort “not a continuation of Rad Power, more like a phoenix,” and “The rebirth.” Those remarks describe management’s framing of the restart; they do not establish that the turnaround has succeeded.

What turnaround steps did management announce?
In his March 6 interview with GeekWire, Provost outlined a proposed operating plan. The figures and targets below are his account at that time, not verified current operating data.
| Area | What management said it planned | What the reporting establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Hiring | Provost said offers had gone to 95% of employees laid off during the bankruptcy process; about 70 people had accepted by the time of the interview. | These are figures from his March 2026 account. They do not show how many people ultimately returned or the company’s current headcount. |
| Assembly and supply | Move to just-in-time final assembly in the United States at a planned 100,000-square-foot central-U.S. facility, while sourcing components globally and using a Foreign Trade Zone structure. | The interview describes a plan, not a confirmed facility opening, production start or realized cost saving. |
| Stores and dealers | Keep seven U.S. Rad stores open, including the Seattle Ballard flagship; prioritize a Florida reopening; consider Vancouver; and target stores in at least 24 additional U.S. markets over the longer term. Provost also said Rad intended to improve dealer pricing. | The number of stores to remain open and the expansion markets were expectations or targets, not proof of current locations or completed openings. |
| Battery support | Offer affected owners Safe Shield batteries at roughly a 50% discount. | The interview did not establish that the program launched, who qualifies, its current price or its terms. |
| Products and costs | Develop new products, keep sufficient inventory, reduce third-party logistics costs and return the operation to profitability. | These were stated goals. No completed product, savings figure or return to profitability is established by the reporting described here. |
Life EV’s March acquisition announcement also described continued U.S. retail operations and expansion into selected markets. As company statements, those commitments and forward-looking plans should be distinguished from independently verified milestones.
How does the strategy fit Life EV’s other brands?
A June 24, 2026, Electrek report described a multi-brand approach: Rad was positioned around utility and commuting, while Serial 1 occupied a premium segment. Electrek also reported that Life EV was considering a possible acquisition of QuietKat to reach off-road, hunting and outdoor riders. That report does not establish that a QuietKat deal closed.
The broader portfolio could give Life EV different customer segments to serve, but it does not by itself show that Rad’s staffing, assembly, retail or customer-support plans have been delivered.
What should Rad owners know about the battery warning?
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning on November 24, 2025, covering lithium-ion battery models RP-1304, RAD-S1304Y and HL-RP-S1304. The warning names these e-bike models among those affected: RadWagon 4, RadCity HS 4, RadRover High Step 5, RadCity Step Thru 3, RadRover Step Thru 1, RadRunner 2, RadRunner 1, RadRunner Plus and RadExpand 5.

The CPSC reported 31 fire reports, including 12 reports of property damage totaling approximately $734,500. If you own one of the named bikes, check the battery’s model label and current CPSC guidance; do not infer whether a battery is affected from the bike’s brand alone.
- If the battery model is covered by the warning, stop using it and remove it from the e-bike.
- Follow local hazardous-waste disposal procedures. Do not put the battery in ordinary trash, curbside recycling or ordinary battery collection boxes.
- Rad’s response in the CPSC warning said its Safe Shield and semi-integrated batteries were not subject to the agency’s statement. That company response does not replace the CPSC’s instructions for batteries identified in the warning.
The proposed discounted-battery program in Provost’s March interview should not be treated as a confirmed remedy or substitute for following the CPSC’s warning. Rad’s catalog lists batteries with model-specific compatibility, so owners should verify the exact bike and battery match and current availability before purchasing a replacement.

What does the planned comeback mean for customers?
For a prospective buyer, the key distinction is between a completed asset purchase and the operating promises that followed it. Store growth, local assembly, a larger workforce and discounted batteries could affect availability and support if implemented; the reporting available through October 4, 2026, does not confirm their completion.
- Before relying on a nearby store for service or a test ride, confirm that the location is currently open and offers the service you need.
- Before paying for a bike, battery or accessory, verify stock, delivery timing, warranty coverage and the seller responsible for support.
- If you hold a former Rad warranty or gift card, ask whether that specific item is honored under the acquisition agreement.
- If replacing a battery, use the model label and official compatibility information; do not assume that a generic battery or any Rad-branded battery will fit.
The available reporting supports a clear but limited conclusion: Life EV acquired key Rad assets and announced a substantial revival plan. The hiring, facility, expansion and battery-program milestones remain unverified in the sources described here.
