Punjab’s Personalized Vanity Plate (PVP) process lets eligible vehicle owners seek an approved plate containing letters, numbers or both. It is separate from the province’s auction of attractive numeric registration marks. The official PVP terms are dated December 10, 2024, but do not establish the service’s public launch date. For current availability and dates, check the Punjab e-Auction portal and fresh Excise notices.
What Punjab’s personalized plate auction covers
The PVP service concerns a customized combination of letters and/or numbers, subject to the department’s approval of the requested content and format. Its controlling terms are the Punjab Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department’s Personalized Vanity Plates terms and conditions, dated December 10, 2024.
This is not the same as the older attractive-registration-mark e-Auction. That separate policy concerns numeric marks, has its own fees and reserve prices, and follows a different application and bidding process. See the department’s attractive registration marks policy for that route.
Who can apply and what a plate may say
Under the PVP terms, an applicant must own a validly registered vehicle. A vehicle whose registration is suspended or cancelled, or whose owner is a token-tax defaulter, is not eligible.

A requested plate may contain up to eight characters, including spaces. Letters must be capitalized; dots, dashes and symbols are not allowed. The approved plate must follow the designated font and style and display its characters in a horizontal line. Approval is subject to scrutiny, so a valid character count alone does not guarantee acceptance.
The department may refuse or recall a plate for prohibited content, including a duplicate, obscene or profane wording, unlawful incitement, discriminatory or sexual content, or wording that falsely implies government affiliation. An applicant has 14 days to appeal a refusal or recall decision, as set out in the PVP terms.

How the PVP application and auction work
The PVP terms describe an approval stage before bidding begins. Follow the live portal instructions, since the department can set other rules or decisions for an auction.
- Register and identify the vehicle: provide the requested applicant and vehicle information so ownership and vehicle eligibility can be confirmed.
- Submit the requested plate: enter the proposed characters and electronically accept the applicable terms.
- Wait for scrutiny: the terms say the scrutiny decision to approve or reject should be made within 48 hours.
- Pay the participation fee after approval: the fee is non-refundable. The applicable amount is PKR 5,000 for Gold or PKR 10,000 for Platinum under the 2024 terms.
- Bid in the approved plate’s auction: the auction runs for 15 calendar days unless the department or scrutiny committee sets another rule or decision. The successful result is due on day 15 at 9 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time. A late highest bid can trigger two-minute extensions.
- Pay the remaining amount before the PSID expires: a successful bidder who misses the payment deadline loses the bid and rights to the plate, which returns to auction.
How this differs from attractive-number e-Auctions
Punjab’s attractive numeric registration-mark auction is a separate service. PITB’s how-to guide explains that route; its fees and deadlines should not be applied to a personalized vanity-plate application.

PITB’s September 2026 notice shows that attractive-number auctions continue to be scheduled, but it is not evidence of the original launch date or current PVP dates. Check the PITB notice and official portal for current schedules. PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf described the platform as enabling people to bid for preferred vehicle registration numbers through a “transparent, convenient, and secure digital process,” according to the Associated Press of Pakistan report; that statement describes the platform’s intended process, not independently verified outcomes.
