That can reduce material handling on a suitable site, but it does not guarantee lower costs or higher output: those depend on the feed, machine configuration, power, site movements and finished-product requirements.
What is a portable jaw crusher?
A portable jaw crusher is a primary or coarse-crushing machine built into a transportable plant. A typical arrangement combines a feeder, jaw crusher and belt conveyors; some configurations add screening. The jaw applies compressive force to break large pieces into smaller material for further processing or use.
“Portable” can describe different equipment. SANME’s PP Series is a wheeled plant, while MPEX and JONO describe tracked machines. Their mobility and configurations are not interchangeable, so compare the actual model and site requirements rather than relying on the label alone.
These machines are used in settings such as mining, quarrying, demolition, construction-waste recycling and road or railway projects. SANME describes selectable two- or three-stage arrangements and configurations that screen before or after crushing. MPEX lists tracked models for demolition, recycling, quarrying and mining; JONO describes tracked equipment for ore extraction, construction-waste processing and transport projects.

How can moving crushing closer to the material improve efficiency?
The clearest potential benefit is fewer movements of uncrushed feed. If the crusher can work near the source, a project may avoid hauling that material to a separate fixed plant. SANME presents reduced transport cost as a possible benefit, and JONO describes reduced material handling as an advantage of mobile equipment. These are manufacturer claims, not quantified savings demonstrated by a controlled comparison.
Whether the arrangement is more efficient overall depends on the whole job: where material is excavated, how far it would otherwise travel, how often the machine must move, available power, the required product and what happens to the crushed material afterward. A mobile crusher can shift handling rather than eliminate it, particularly if the finished material still needs long-distance transport or additional processing.
How much can a mobile jaw crusher crush per hour?
Published capacity is model- and condition-dependent. The figures below are manufacturer specifications from product pages accessed in 2026; they are not independent performance tests and should not be treated as directly comparable.
| Manufacturer and equipment | Published capacity | Published feed-size information |
|---|---|---|
| Shanghai SANME Mining Machinery Corp., Ltd., PP Series wheeled portable plants | 50–845 t/h across the series. Individual model ranges are 50–250, 85–300, 120–520, 190–670 and 315–845 t/h. SANME says these are reference figures based on instantaneous sampling of medium-hardness material. | Series maximum feed-size range: 400–1,200 mm. |
| SANY Group, mobile jaw crusher category | 150–450 t/h category range; not a promise for each model or material. | Category maximum feed size: 700 mm. |
| JONO, MPE1175 tracked crusher | 150–400 t/h for this model, as listed by JONO. | Maximum feed size: 650 mm. |
SANME’s page cautions: “The crusher capacities listed are based on instantaneous sampling of medium hardness material.” Its range is therefore a reference, not a guaranteed sustained rate. Actual output can change with feed gradation and moisture, material hardness, crusher settings and wear, downstream screening and operating practice. The cited product pages do not provide a cross-brand test under common conditions, so comparing the ranges alone cannot establish which machine is faster.

What materials can a portable jaw crusher process?
Jaw crushers are used for coarse crushing of suitable rock, ore and construction or demolition material. The specific material limits depend on the machine and application; the manufacturer pages describe use cases rather than establishing that every listed model can process every material.
- Mining and quarrying: SANME lists mining and metallurgy, while MPEX describes quarrying and mining applications.
- Construction and demolition waste: SANME lists construction-waste recycling; MPEX lists demolition and recycling; JONO cites construction-waste processing.
- Infrastructure projects: SANME lists roads, railways and water-conservancy projects; JONO cites road and railway work.
Before selecting a machine, confirm that the material’s hardness, maximum lump size, shape, moisture and any contaminants suit its feed opening, jaw configuration and operating limits. The product pages cited here do not establish universal material compatibility.
How do I choose between a wheeled and tracked crusher?
Start with the worksite and the machine’s complete transport and operating requirements. SANME’s cited PP Series is wheeled; MPEX and JONO describe tracked crushers. The pages establish that both arrangements exist, but they do not provide a universal rule that one is better or cheaper for a particular project.
- Wheeled plant: assess the towing or transport arrangement, access roads, setup area and how frequently the plant must relocate.
- Tracked machine: assess access and movement on the working site, ground conditions and how the machine will be transported between sites.
- Either type: verify transport dimensions and weight, local road and permitting limits, setup space, service access and the sequence of material movement.
For a model-specific example, JONO lists the MPE1175 at 52 t total weight. That figure applies to that model, not to tracked crushers as a class; confirm transport configuration and applicable limits with the manufacturer or supplier.

Which specifications should I compare?
Capacity alone is not enough. Use the following checks to decide whether a published model is suitable for the material and finished product you need.
- Feed opening and maximum feed size: compare the largest expected piece with both figures for the exact model. A stated maximum feed size does not by itself show how consistently the machine will process your feed.
- Discharge setting and product: identify the required output size and whether the jaw can meet it. If the job requires a controlled final gradation, check what screening or later processing is needed.
- Material and operating assumptions: ask what hardness, gradation and moisture the capacity estimate assumes, and how settings and wear affect the rate.
- Capacity evidence: distinguish a model specification or series range from sustained project output. Ask the vendor for assumptions and application-specific estimates; do not treat figures from different manufacturers as a like-for-like test.
- Mobility and transport: confirm operating and transport dimensions, weight, site access, relocation method and any road, permit or emissions requirements.
- Powertrain: check whether the offered version is diesel, dual-power, grid-powered or another configuration, and whether the site can supply the required power.
- Plant layout: account for the feeder, pre-screen, bypass or fines conveyor, crusher, downstream screen and discharge conveyors. These components affect what the plant can do as a system.
- Dust and metal control: establish what dust suppression and ferrous-material removal are included or optional. MPEX lists water or foam spray equipment and an adjustable overband magnet; these features should not be assumed on other models.
- Support: confirm parts availability, service coverage, compatibility and response arrangements in the project’s territory before committing to a model.
How do configurations affect the job?
Mobile jaw-crusher plants are not equipped identically. MPEX’s MPEX-J106 page describes KJ-106, KJ-110 and KJ-116 configurations, including diesel and “E” variants with different engine power and weights. It also lists a folding bypass/fines conveyor, dust-suppression spray and an adjustable overband magnet. JONO lists tracked machines with feeding, pre-screening, crushing and conveying, and describes dual-power and grid-power versions. Those features are configuration-specific, not standard across the category.
Screening and bypass arrangements matter because they determine what material reaches the jaw and how the plant handles fines. Power options matter because a suitable grid connection or dual-power setup may change site logistics, while a diesel configuration has its own operating and emissions considerations. Confirm the exact package and local requirements with the supplier; the cited pages do not establish a universal cost or efficiency advantage for any powertrain.
What the published figures do—and do not—tell you
Manufacturer pages are useful for identifying available machine types, stated model specifications and listed features. They do not, on their own, establish independently tested throughput, fuel consumption, cost savings or comparative performance under a shared set of site conditions. Treat any capacity or transport-benefit claim as a starting point for a project-specific assessment, not as a result guaranteed for your operation.
