Hodinkee reported that Patek Philippe planned to cut U.S. prices on some models from 1 February 2026, but not by 8% across the board or worldwide: its report said reductions would reach 8% for some watches, while high-value and appointment-only models would fall about 3.4%, and prices in other regions were expected to rise about 4%. Separately, Vacheron Constantin launched a vintage-watch concours for owners worldwide; registration has closed, and seven awards are scheduled for 10 November 2026.
Did Patek Philippe really cut prices by 8%?
That is the maximum reduction Hodinkee reported for some Patek Philippe models in the United States, with the change expected to begin on 1 February 2026. It is not evidence of a universal 8% cut. In its 16 January report, Hodinkee said high-value and appointment-only models would see a smaller reduction of about 3.4%. The same report said prices in other regions were expected to rise about 4%.

Hodinkee attributed the information to people familiar with the matter who were not authorized to discuss pricing publicly. It said it had independently confirmed the information with multiple U.S.-based authorized retailers, while Patek Philippe officials in Geneva and New York declined to comment. The brand did not publicly confirm the reported changes to Hodinkee.

Hodinkee linked the reported U.S. adjustment to the U.S. tariff rate for Swiss products falling from 39% to 15%. That is context given by the publication, not an explanation confirmed by Patek Philippe. The precise effect on a particular watch depends on its model and market; the report does not establish that every U.S. price changed by the same percentage.

What Vacheron Constantin’s concours is—and who could enter
Vacheron Constantin’s inaugural Concours d’Élégance Horlogère is an owner-focused competition for the brand’s pocket watches and wristwatches produced from 1755 through 1999. The official event page describes it as an initiative at the invitation of Phillips, in association with Bacs & Russo. Owners worldwide could submit an eligible watch; the registration window ran from 19 January to 30 April 2026 and has now closed.
An entrant could place a watch in only one category, selected by its owner. The seven categories are:

How the watches will be judged
The concours lists nine evaluation criteria: authenticity, elegance, rarity, impact on Vacheron Constantin’s history and/or watchmaking generally, provenance, technicality, métiers d’art, state of preservation, and emotional dimension. The jury is co-chaired by Aurel Bacs, Senior Consultant at Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo, and Christian Selmoni, Vacheron Constantin’s Director of Style and Heritage. Phillips’ 11 February 2026 announcement also confirms the registration and award dates.

Two separate watch-industry developments
The Patek Philippe story concerns reported retail-price changes that vary by market and model segment. The Vacheron Constantin news is a heritage competition for owners of qualifying watches, not a price or purchasing program. For a buyer, the practical takeaway is to check the current price with an authorized retailer in the relevant market rather than assume that the reported U.S. maximum applies to every model or location.
