That does not, by itself, show that recipients’ accounts were breached. If you receive an unexpected “Your recent login to Robinhood” message, don’t use its links: open Robinhood directly in the app or by typing its website address, then check your account activity.
What happened in the reported Robinhood phishing attack?
SecurityWeek reported on April 28, 2026, that attackers exploited a weakness in Robinhood’s account-creation flow and the way login notifications handled device names. The report says attackers added malicious HTML links to device-name fields during signup. When Robinhood sent a recent-login notification, the unsanitized HTML was rendered in the email, placing phishing links in a message generated by Robinhood. SecurityWeek’s report says the emails used the subject “Your recent login to Robinhood.”

According to that report, the attackers used variations of Gmail addresses made by adding or removing periods. Gmail delivers those variations to the same inbox, while Robinhood treated them as different addresses. This reportedly let attackers trigger notifications that could reach an address they were targeting.
The messages reportedly came from Robinhood’s legitimate [email protected] address and passed email authentication checks because they were sent through Robinhood’s systems. That is why sender appearance alone could not establish that the links were safe: the message was generated by the real service, but its contents had been manipulated.

Did Robinhood get hacked, and were customer accounts affected?
SecurityWeek quoted Robinhood as saying, “This phishing attempt was made possible by an abuse of the account creation flow,” and, “It was not a breach of our systems or customer accounts, and personal information and funds were not impacted.” This is Robinhood’s reported assessment, not an independently established forensic finding.
The incident report does not establish how many people received the messages, how many clicked, or whether this particular campaign led to stolen credentials or financial losses. It also does not establish when Robinhood fixed the issue or describe the technical remediation. SecurityWeek said the email addresses might have come from Robinhood’s 2021 breach, another source, or guessing; the source used in this campaign has not been established.

How can you tell whether a Robinhood login email is safe?
Do not rely on a familiar sender address, subject line, or authentication indicator to decide whether to click. In this reported incident, those signals could look legitimate even though the email contained a phishing link. Instead, judge the message by navigating to your account independently.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Do not click a login-alert link or open an attachment in an unexpected message.
- Open the Robinhood app or enter Robinhood’s website address yourself. Check login and account activity there.
- Be wary of anyone asking for your password or two-factor authentication code, or telling you to transfer assets to “secure” your account. Robinhood says it will not ask for these actions in its scam guidance.
What should you do if you clicked a link or shared information?
If you clicked but did not enter information, close the page and check your account by opening Robinhood directly. If you entered your password or a two-factor code, or see activity you do not recognize, act through the official app rather than returning to the email’s link.
