Framer announced a $100 million Series D on August 28, 2025, at a $2 billion post-money valuation. The round was led by existing investors Meritech Capital and Atomico, with participation from WiL and HV. The financing values Framer as a private company—it is not a public-market capitalization or an opportunity for ordinary investors to buy shares on a stock exchange.
What happened in Framer’s Series D?
Framer said it raised $100 million in Series D funding at a $2 billion valuation. Meritech Capital and Atomico led the round, while WiL and HV also participated. The company described the investors as long-time backers, making the financing an endorsement from existing supporters rather than an entirely new investor syndicate.

The announcement crossed the so-called “double unicorn” threshold: a private startup valued at more than $2 billion. Framer said the new capital would support expansion in the United States, broader enterprise growth, increased investment in artificial intelligence, and its ambition to let companies run their entire public .com presence through Framer. Framer’s announcement provides the company’s account of the transaction and strategy.

That headline requires an important qualification. The $2 billion figure is the valuation assigned in a private financing round. It does not establish what the entire company could be sold for in a liquid market, and Framer does not provide the kind of public financial reporting required of a listed company.

The following figures come from Framer and reporting by TechCrunch. They should be treated as company-reported metrics, not audited financial disclosures.

A simple comparison puts the valuation at roughly 40 times the reported $50 million ARR. That is only a rough ratio. The available information does not fully disclose Framer’s growth rate, gross margin, cash balance, retention, customer-acquisition costs, or the precise structure of the financing. It should therefore be viewed as context, not as a definitive valuation benchmark.
Framer’s valuation is largely a story about a product pivot
Framer did not build its current position by operating for years as the same website builder. The company began as a high-fidelity design and prototyping product. Framer said market demand was shifting toward simpler whiteboarding and low-fidelity tools, prompting it to reconsider whether its design technology could be used to create production websites.

This helps explain why the financing is more than a routine no-code funding story. Investors are backing the possibility that Framer can become the operating layer for a company’s marketing website—not merely a tool for producing a landing page.
What Framer is selling now
Framer positions its platform as a combination of visual design, CMS, publishing, hosting, analytics, experimentation, collaboration, localization, and enterprise controls. Its stated features include on-page editing, A/B testing, funnel tracking, managed hosting, and security capabilities. These are vendor descriptions rather than independent performance tests.
As of the official pricing page reviewed in August 2026, Framer displayed the following monthly prices on its yearly-billing view:
- Free: $0
- Basic: $10 per month
- Pro: $30 per month
- Enterprise: Custom pricing
The official pricing page also lists separate charges and limits that can materially affect the cost of a larger site. Additional full editors were listed at $20 per editor per month, content editors at $10 per editor per month, and translation locales at $20 per locale on applicable plans. Convert/A-B-testing functionality was listed at $50 per 500,000 events. Enterprise plans include custom limits, enterprise security, uptime guarantees, SCIM, SSO, and dedicated support.

Prices depend on the selected billing cycle, and applicable taxes may be added. Framer introduced a new billing system on May 27, 2026, separating content-editor seats from full-editor pricing. Buyers relying on older reviews should check the current plan structure rather than assuming historical pricing still applies. The company explains the changes in its billing-system guide.
Why enterprise customers matter
Framer’s growth narrative depends on moving beyond individual designers and small startup sites. The company says businesses became the majority of new customers after it introduced business plans. Its platform is designed to let designers, marketers, and other non-engineering users work on websites without sending every change through a developer or infrastructure team.
Framer and TechCrunch identified users or customers including Perplexity, Miro, Scale AI, Huel, Zapier, Mixpanel, Cal.com, and Bilt. These names show the market Framer wants to occupy, but they do not prove contract size, retention, revenue contribution, or broad product superiority.
Framer also said close to half of the latest Y Combinator batch had launched with the platform. TechCrunch used different wording, reporting that roughly 40% of the most recent batch used Framer for their main websites. Those claims should not be treated as identical measurements without a precise cohort definition.

Where artificial intelligence fits
AI appears to be an expansion strategy rather than the original explanation for the 2025 financing. Framer said the new money would fund increased AI investment, but its core Series D pitch also centered on enterprise growth, U.S. expansion, and full-site ownership.
By June 2026, Framer had launched Framer 3.0 and introduced AI credits for agents that can help design, write, analyze, organize, and update sites. Framer also said users could connect their own Claude or OpenAI subscriptions to work with Framer through those tools. The company’s AI and pricing announcement describes that later product direction.
The distinction matters: AI may increase the platform’s potential value and usage, but the available evidence does not prove that AI drove the $2 billion valuation. It is more accurate to say that Framer is using AI to extend an already broader website platform.

Framer competes across several overlapping categories rather than against one identical product:

- AI coding platforms: Tools such as Cursor and Lovable compete for some of the same development budgets, although they generally involve an AI-generated-code workflow rather than a hosted visual site-builder model.
Framer’s comparison page presents its own positioning against several of these products, so it should be read as vendor-authored marketing rather than neutral testing. Framer has not established through the available evidence that it is beating Webflow, Wix, WordPress, or other competitors.
Who might benefit from Framer—and who might not
Framer appears best suited to design-led marketing websites, startup and technology-company homepages, brand sites, agencies managing multiple modern sites, and teams that want visual design, CMS, analytics, localization, hosting, and publishing in one environment. Its professional website positioning is aimed at exactly these use cases.
It may be a weaker fit for large editorial publishers that need a mature publishing ecosystem, organizations dependent on extensive WordPress plugins, teams requiring complete ownership of hosting infrastructure, projects with specialized backend functionality, or businesses whose primary need is ecommerce rather than marketing-site publishing.
The main commercial risks are those of an integrated hosted SaaS product:
- Vendor lock-in: Design, CMS, hosting, analytics, and publishing are tightly connected.
- Variable costs: Editors, pages, CMS items, bandwidth, locales, analytics events, hosting, and AI credits can make expenses harder to forecast as usage grows.
- Pricing changes: The 2026 billing redesign means older comparisons may be obsolete.
- Enterprise uncertainty: Self-serve plans do not necessarily provide the procurement terms or controls required by every large organization.
- Private-company opacity: ARR, margins, retention, customer concentration, and financing terms are not publicly audited.
What the $2 billion valuation does—and does not—prove
The financing indicates that Meritech Capital, Atomico, WiL, and HV were willing to invest at a valuation reflecting Framer’s growth prospects and strategic opportunity. It also suggests investors see value in combining design-led workflows with publishing, CMS, analytics, collaboration, and enterprise features.
It does not prove that Framer has $2 billion in liquid market value, that the company is profitable, or that its $100 million ARR target will be achieved. “Approximately $50 million in ARR” is not the same as $50 million in recognized annual revenue, and “break-even” is not the same as publicly verified net income.
The most important test is whether Framer can convert strong design-led adoption into durable enterprise revenue while preserving the speed and creative control that attracted users in the first place. Expansion into AI and enterprise software could increase revenue per customer, but it may also introduce more complexity, usage-based pricing, and competition from both established website platforms and AI-assisted development tools.
