NEPRA’s K-Electric decisions cover separate tariff functions and network-loss targets—not a guaranteed Rs7.60-per-unit reduction on every customer’s bill. K-Electric said its average tariff fell by Rs7.60/kWh, from Rs39.97/kWh to Rs32.37/kWh, according to Dawn News English. NEPRA’s approved loss targets show distribution losses declining through FY 2029–30 while the transmission-loss target stays fixed.
What NEPRA decided—and when
The decisions involve different parts of K-Electric’s business. NEPRA’s official listing records review decisions dated October 20, 2025, for the distribution-function and supply-function multi-year tariff (MYT) determinations. Both were notified on September 23, 2026. The listing also records a separate review decision on K-Electric’s transmission and distribution investment plan and loss assessment for FY 2023–24 to FY 2029–30. NEPRA’s K-Electric distribution tariff listing identifies these decisions and notification dates.
A decision date and a notification date are not interchangeable: the review decisions were dated October 20, 2025, and the distribution- and supply-function decisions were notified on September 23, 2026. The listing also identifies a transmission review decision; the decisions should not be collapsed into one consumer tariff.
How much did the average tariff fall?
K-Electric’s reported average-tariff figure fell by Rs7.60/kWh, from Rs39.97/kWh to Rs32.37/kWh. Those are figures attributed to the company in Dawn News English’s report, not a verified reduction for every household or customer category.

If you want to change the backlight time, you can press and hold "UP" and "DOWN" button at the same time to enter backlight time setting, then press "UP" and "DOWN" to select the backlight time (bL-0 =10 minutes, bL-1=1 hour, bL-2=4 hours, bL-3=8 hours, bL-4=always on), finally press the "COST" to save the backlight time settings
- Overload protection: When the power of the appliance exceeds the overload power, the LCD will display “OVERLOAD” to warn the user. All the buttons will quit working and can only be workable when you lower or remove the load power. The default overload power is 3680W and is adjustable from 0 to 3680W. In general, you need to set the overload power to 1800W before using. Just press the "function" button for more than 3 seconds to enter the setting
- Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure
An average tariff is not the same as the rate on an individual bill. The material available does not establish the applicable consumer-category rates, their effective dates, or how a particular customer’s bill changes. A customer’s bill also cannot be calculated from the average-tariff comparison alone. Check the applicable notified tariff schedule for current rates rather than treating the reported average as a per-unit bill promise.
What are K-Electric’s approved loss targets?
NEPRA’s distribution MYT determination sets annual targets for distribution losses, transmission losses and combined transmission-and-distribution (T&D) losses. Distribution targets decline each year; the transmission target remains 1.30% throughout the listed period. The combined target is separately stated in the determination. NEPRA’s determination and listing cover the figures and the review decisions.

From FY 2023–24 to FY 2029–30, the distribution target declines by 1.98 percentage points, and the combined T&D target declines by 1.95 percentage points. These are differences between the endpoints in NEPRA’s table, expressed in percentage points—not percentage reductions.
What the loss decision means for the network
The October 20, 2025 review concerns NEPRA’s approved investment plan and loss assessment for FY 2023–24 through FY 2029–30. The plan and targets relate to network investments intended to support loss reduction, network expansion, reliability and service quality. The targets are regulatory benchmarks; they do not, by themselves, establish what losses K-Electric actually achieved in a given year or how any individual customer’s bill changed.

How to read the separate tariff actions
NEPRA’s listing records a separate Federal Government motion and policy-guideline decision on rationalization of XWDISCO and K-Electric tariffs, dated February 11, 2026. That policy action is distinct from the October 2025 reviews of K-Electric’s tariff determinations and investment plan. Its listing alone does not establish the rate currently applicable to a customer; current bill advice requires the relevant notified consumer-category schedule.
