Mint Mobile’s Unlimited plan does not currently impose a hard cutoff or automatically slow your data just because you reach a usage total. But after 50GB in a monthly cycle, Mint may give your traffic lower priority when the network is congested, which can mean slower service for the rest of that cycle. The plan also includes up to 20GB of hotspot data and SD video—not unlimited high-speed hotspot or HD streaming.
What’s the catch with Mint Mobile Unlimited after 50GB?
The 50GB threshold is about network priority, not a guaranteed cutoff. Mint says Unlimited customers who use more than 50GB may be prioritized below other traffic in busy places and at busy times. If that happens, data may feel slower for the remainder of the monthly cycle; Mint does not promise a particular speed after the threshold.
Mint’s Plan Terms & Conditions, section 9.6, says: “Currently, we do not reduce data speeds based on your Usage Total on any of our Unlimited Service plans; we manage significant high-speed data usage by Unlimited customers through prioritization and traffic management during times of network congestion, as described in our Network Management Policy.” The distinction is that a usage total does not automatically trigger a fixed speed reduction, while congestion can affect the experience of customers who have crossed the threshold.
Mint describes service periods as 30 or 31 days, depending on the plan. The usage status applies within that cycle and resets when the next cycle begins. See Mint’s Plan Terms & Conditions and Network Management Policy for the current wording.

Does Mint Mobile slow down after 50GB?
It may slow during congestion after you use more than 50GB; it is not guaranteed to slow everywhere or at a specific speed. The impact depends on demand at your location and time. Mint’s plan page says customers over 50GB may notice slower speeds in certain locations when the network is busy, and its policy does not give a minimum post-threshold speed.
That means an experience in a quiet area may differ from one in a crowded place at a peak time. Mint identifies its service with the T-Mobile network, but coverage and speeds vary by location, device, and network conditions. Check the Mint coverage map for places you use your phone; a coverage map and published policy are not a local speed test.

Is Mint Mobile hotspot really unlimited?
No. Mint’s Unlimited plan includes up to 20GB of hotspot data. Hotspot use counts toward the 50GB heavy-use threshold, so tethering can both use up the included hotspot allowance and contribute to the usage total relevant to congestion prioritization.
Mint says customers can purchase additional data in 5GB or 10GB increments through its channels. That does not change the plan’s stated included hotspot allowance into unlimited hotspot data. Confirm the available add-ons and terms in your account or at checkout. See Mint’s hotspot help page.

What else is limited on the plan?
Video streams in SD
Mint’s plan page states that video streams in standard definition. Its broadband label describes video as approximately 480p, so do not assume the plan includes HD streaming. See the Mint broadband labels.
Monthly-equivalent prices require upfront payment
Mint’s advertised monthly equivalent is not necessarily the amount billed each month: customers pay upfront for the selected term, and taxes and fees are extra. The offer page reviewed on October 8, 2026 displayed a $15-per-month introductory equivalent on selected term plans, available to new customers for the initial term; it also displayed a standard three-month Unlimited option at $30 per month. These are a dated offer snapshot, not guaranteed current or renewal prices. Check the total at checkout and confirm the renewal rate for the term you choose. Mint’s plan page carries the current offer details.

How to compare Mint Unlimited with another plan
“Unlimited” can describe very different rules. Before choosing a plan, compare the details that affect your own use:
- What happens at high usage: Is there a cutoff, an automatic speed reduction, or lower priority only when the network is congested?
- Threshold and reset: How much data triggers a policy, and when does the usage cycle end?
- Hotspot: How much is included, and does hotspot use count toward any high-use threshold?
- Video: Is streaming limited to SD or does the plan specify another resolution?
- Price mechanics: Is payment due upfront, are taxes and fees extra, how long does introductory pricing last, and what is the renewal price?
- Local service: What coverage and congestion are like where you actually use the phone.
For Mint specifically, the official terms establish the 50GB congestion-prioritization threshold and 20GB included hotspot allowance; they do not establish a universal speed outcome or guarantee local performance.
