Mesa’s 1% mortgage cash back and up-to-3x homeowner rewards were launch-era promises, not verified current offers. TechCrunch reported that Mesa’s separate Homeowners Card program closed effective December 12, 2025. The status of Mesa’s mortgage marketplace and its advertised 1% reward is not established by the available current information.
What Mesa promised at launch
In September 2024, Mesa pitched two related but distinct products: mortgage cash back and a separate unsecured rewards card. The card was not a mortgage secured by a home. TechCrunch’s launch coverage said the mortgage offer applied to original and refinance loans, while applicants for the card did not have to get their mortgage through Mesa. Those are historical launch details, not confirmed current terms.
The advertised mortgage reward
Mesa described a 1% cash-back reward on the mortgage loan. The launch report did not establish current eligibility, geography, lender availability, or application terms, so the figure should not be treated as an offer borrowers can claim today.
The separate card’s planned earning structure
The unsecured card was designed to reward homeowners for spending beyond travel and dining. The launch report described one point per dollar on mortgage payments, 2x points on gas and groceries, and 3x points in a home-services category. That category included expenses such as HOA fees, utilities, repairs, and home insurance.

Mesa said points could be redeemed for cash back, gifts, travel booked through its portal, or to offset monthly mortgage payments. Discounts and memberships were described as future benefits Mesa intended to offer, not as guaranteed card terms.
Is the Mesa Homeowners Card still active?
No. TechCrunch reported on December 14, 2025 that Mesa had shut down the Homeowners Card, with accounts closed as of December 12. The report said cards were deactivated, so cardholders could no longer make purchases or earn Mesa points. It described statement credit at 0.6% as the apparent remaining redemption method at the time of publication; that report does not confirm whether the redemption arrangement remains available now. See TechCrunch’s shutdown report for the dated account.

Does Mesa still offer 1% cash back on mortgages?
The current status is unverified. The reported card shutdown establishes the end of the card program, not the closure of Mesa’s separate mortgage marketplace. Mesa’s app landing page, retrieved October 8, 2026, uses broad language about rewards on mortgages, refinances, home improvements, and everyday purchases. Its retrieved content does not expose terms, eligibility, or an application flow, so it is not enough to establish that the mortgage offer is accepting applications or that 1% cash back is currently available.
Anyone considering Mesa should confirm directly whether it is accepting mortgage applications or referrals, which lenders and locations are included, and whether any reward is currently offered. Do not assume a historical headline describes a live product.

What happened to the announced PRMG benefits?
In May 2025, Mesa and Paramount Residential Mortgage Group (PRMG) announced a co-branded card for qualified PRMG clients. The announcement said clients could apply after closing on a home purchase with a PRMG loan officer. It named Sam’s Club memberships, Thumbtack home-maintenance credits, Cozy Earth home essentials and decor, and pet-care credits with Wag! and The Farmer’s Dog. These were benefits announced before the card shutdown; the announcement does not show that they remain available. The historical details appear in the Mesa–PRMG release.
How Mesa described its business model
At launch, Mesa said it expected to earn revenue from interchange fees, interest, and affiliate revenue, while mortgage revenue would come from referring leads to financial partners. This describes the intended model in 2024; it does not establish that a current mortgage referral program or publisher affiliate offer exists.

The PRMG announcement said the historical Mesa Homeowners Visa cards were powered by Highnote and issued by Celtic Bank, subject to credit approval. That description concerns the card program that was later reported closed.
