Announced in January 2025, the firm said it was raising its third fund, with Providence committing $150 million over 10 years as the anchor investor. That was the commitment reported at launch; it does not establish whether the fund is still raising or deploying capital today.
What is Allumia Ventures?
Allumia Ventures is a healthcare-focused venture capital firm formed when Providence Ventures spun out of the Providence healthcare system. GeekWire reported the change on January 7, 2025. The firm describes its purpose as investing in technologies and care models intended to transform healthcare, with relationships across healthcare organizations as part of its approach.
For readers following the fund as an investment vehicle, the announcement identifies Providence as an anchor investor, but does not disclose a minimum commitment, complete fund terms, or whether outside participants can currently join.
What does Allumia invest in?
At the time of the announcement, reported investment areas included digital health, technology-enabled healthcare services, and medical technology. Allumia also described interest in technology-supported approaches to improving access to mental and behavioral healthcare.

The firm’s official approach page frames the focus more broadly around healthcare technologies and care models. It says the firm connects portfolio companies with relevant healthcare stakeholders, with the aim of helping them understand the landscape and support adoption. That is Allumia’s stated value proposition, not a guarantee that a portfolio company will secure customers or achieve commercial adoption.
How is Providence connected to the fund?
GeekWire reported that Providence was the anchor investor in Allumia’s announced third fund, with a $150 million commitment over 10 years. The article also said Providence had been a customer of companies Allumia backed, or became a customer after investment. That relationship can give startups access to provider feedback and operational insights, as described in the report. Allumia was also expected to continue partnering with Providence Digital Innovation Group, an incubator.
Allumia’s current approach page presents Providence as a cornerstone of a broader network of healthcare organizations. The firm says 100% of its portfolio companies have worked with strategic partners. This is Allumia’s own claim; the page does not define the period measured or what qualifies as “worked with.”
What do the fund’s reported track record figures show?
The published figures describe different snapshots and categories, so they should not be read as a direct before-and-after comparison or as a reconciled count of the same portfolio.
| Source and snapshot | Reported figures | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| GeekWire, January 7, 2025 | 28 commercial-stage startups backed; 10 successful exits | The report said Providence was a customer of those companies or became one after investment. |
| Allumia Ventures’ undated approach page, accessed October 8, 2026 | 30 investments; 16 exits | The page does not provide definitions or a measurement date for these totals. |
| Allumia Ventures’ undated approach page, accessed October 8, 2026 | 100% of portfolio companies have worked with strategic partners; 12 years of proven success | These are the firm’s own statements; the page does not define the measurement period or methodology. |
The counts are not directly comparable: the sources do not give matching dates or definitions for investments, commercial-stage companies, and successful exits. The figures therefore do not establish a verified growth rate or a like-for-like update.
What has Allumia said about AI in healthcare?
In GeekWire’s January 2025 report, managing partner Jeff Stolte said AI could address administrative work and improve efficiency in healthcare. He also described possible uses in virtual care and improving job satisfaction for nurses and other providers, while cautioning that AI was not ready to replace providers in delivering care.
Rank #4
Stolte characterized AI as a way to augment clinicians: “how do we help our clinicians practice at the top of their license and avoid burnout”. These are his views as reported by GeekWire, not evidence that AI has produced those clinical or workforce outcomes.

The available announcement establishes what was reported when Allumia’s third fund was announced: Providence was the anchor investor with a $150 million, 10-year commitment, and the firm was raising the fund. It does not establish current fundraising status, whether outside participants are being accepted, fund terms, or current capital deployment. Readers should not treat the 2025 announcement as confirmation of present availability.
