Maveron announced a $225 million eighth fund on May 24, 2022, to invest in consumer-focused startups. The announcement is historical, not a new fundraise. The firm’s stated investment lens centers on changing consumer behavior and technology, but the public materials cited here do not specify Fund VIII’s sector allocations or investment plan.
What Maveron announced
On May 24, 2022, Maveron announced Fund VIII, a $225 million vehicle for backing consumer entrepreneurs. Grace Chou, announcing that she was joining the firm as a partner, described the fund as supporting entrepreneurs on the path “from obscurity to ubiquity.” Chou’s announcement and contemporaneous GeekWire coverage are dated May 24, 2022.
What Maveron says it invests in
Maveron describes itself as a consumer-focused venture firm. Its stated thesis is to identify changes in consumer behavior, especially before they become obvious, and to back entrepreneurs using technology and consumer focus to disrupt established industries. The firm names real estate, health care, finance, education, food, and energy as examples. These are examples of Maveron’s broader investment lens, not confirmed Fund VIII allocations. Maveron’s firm homepage describes its approach and says Dan Levitan and Howard Schultz founded the firm in 1998.
How Fund VIII compares with Fund VII
GeekWire reported that Maveron’s seventh fund was $180 million in 2019 and compared it with the $225 million eighth fund announced in 2022. That is a comparison of reported fund sizes only; it does not establish investment returns or performance.

What the portfolio examples do—and do not—show
Maveron’s current portfolio page lists companies including Allbirds, Lovevery, Pacaso, Rec Room, and Two Chairs. They illustrate the range of consumer businesses associated with the firm, but the page does not establish that each company was financed by Fund VIII. See Maveron’s current portfolio.

The cited materials do not state Fund VIII’s limited-partner roster, target number of companies, investment pace, or allocations by sector or stage. They support the fund size, announcement date, and Maveron’s overall consumer-investing thesis—not a detailed breakdown of how this individual fund would deploy capital.
