Logan Paul’s CryptoZoo Buy-Back: What It Offered and What the Lawsuit Decided

The CryptoZoo buy-back was limited to eligible Base Eggs and Animals, excluded Zoo Tokens, and required claimants to waive claims against Logan Paul. The claim deadline passed in February 2024; court orders in October 2025 dismissed claims against Paul while allowing amendment of most counts.

Logan Paul’s 2024 CryptoZoo offer was a limited buy-back, not a general refund: it offered 0.1 ETH for each eligible Base Egg or Base Animal, excluded Hybrid NFTs and Zoo Tokens, and required claimants to waive actual or anticipated claims against Paul. The application deadline was February 8, 2024, and has passed. A court dismissed all 27 claims against Paul in October 2025, but allowed plaintiffs to amend 26 of them; that order alone does not establish that every claim against every defendant was resolved.

What the CryptoZoo buy-back offered

On January 4, 2024, Paul announced that he would personally commit more than $2.3 million to buy back certain CryptoZoo NFTs. TechCrunch reported the offer as 0.1 ETH for each eligible Base Egg or Base Animal. It was not a promise to repay every purchaser’s losses or the full amount anyone had invested. TechCrunch’s account of the offer and The Block’s report describe a narrow NFT buy-back.

Which assets were included

  • Potentially eligible: Base Eggs and Base Animals, subject to the offer’s eligibility review.
  • Excluded: Hybrid NFTs and Zoo Tokens. The offer did not buy back the token, according to The Block.

TechCrunch reported that Paul reserved sole discretion to decide whether submitted NFTs were eligible and that items deemed ineligible would not be returned. That condition made the offer more than a simple exchange at a fixed rate.

The waiver and deadline

Accepting the offer required claimants to waive “actual or anticipated claims against Paul,” according to terms summarized by TechCrunch. The condition matters: a claimant was not simply receiving money without affecting potential claims against him. The available reporting does not establish how the form treated claims against other parties, so the waiver should not be read more broadly than its reported wording.

The announced application deadline was February 8, 2024. It is a historical program, not an open route to submit a claim now. The reports establish the announced commitment and terms, but do not verify how many claims were accepted or how much Paul ultimately paid.

Why CryptoZoo buyers were seeking recovery

CryptoZoo was promoted as an Ethereum-based NFT collecting game. The advertised concept was that buyers could hatch purchased eggs into animals and breed animals to create hybrids; the project also involved Zoo Tokens and promised interactive features. The game was never released, according to contemporaneous reporting by TechCrunch and The Block. The Block reported that Paul said the game would not be released because of regulatory hurdles.

In litigation, plaintiffs alleged CryptoZoo had been marketed as a game and investment opportunity that was never delivered. A July 2025 court report summarized allegations of a proposed 140-person class and individual claimed losses ranging from $100 to $350,000. Those are figures from plaintiffs’ pleadings, not court findings or independently verified totals. The court record’s summary of allegations is available in the July 7, 2025 report and recommendation.

What the October 2025 court orders decided

On October 29, 2025, the Western District of Texas granted Paul’s motion to dismiss all 27 claims against him. The order dismissed Counts 1–26 with leave to amend and Count 27 with prejudice. In other words, plaintiffs were allowed to try to revise 26 claims; the order did not give them that opportunity for Count 27. The court’s disposition is in the October 29, 2025 order.

This was a procedural ruling on the claims against Paul, not a finding that plaintiffs’ allegations were true or a determination that all claims against all defendants had ended. The docket also contains a separate October 23, 2025 order denying without prejudice Paul’s motion for default judgment against Eduardo Ibanez and Jake Greenbaum. That separate ruling concerned Paul’s request for default judgment against those defendants, not the plaintiffs’ claims against Paul; see the October 23, 2025 order.
