Koodo’s 2025 Lunar New Year Plans: $40 for 60GB, $50 for 90GB Removed

Koodo’s $40/60GB and $50/90GB offers were January 2025 4G BYOD promotions. The $50/90GB option disappeared from its website the next day, with no reported explanation.

Koodo’s Lunar New Year promotion in January 2025 included a 4G bring-your-own-device plan offering 60GB for $40 and another offering 90GB for $50. The $50/90GB option was removed from Koodo’s website the next day, according to MobileSyrup’s January 23 report and January 24 update. The report did not establish why it disappeared or whether it would return. These are historical offers, not verified plans for October 2026.

What Koodo offered in January 2025

On January 23, 2025, MobileSyrup reported two promotional Koodo BYOD plans: $40 per month for 60GB and $50 per month for 90GB. Both were described as 4G plans. BYOD means bringing a phone rather than buying one as part of the offer.

The report said Koodo was also listing older $40/50GB and $50/75GB offers at the time. A shopper comparing the listings needed to distinguish the newer offers by their larger data allowances; the dollar amounts alone did not identify which version was selected.

Why the $50/90GB offer disappeared

In an update on January 24, MobileSyrup said Koodo had removed the $50/90GB promotion from its website. The report did not establish the reason, whether the offer was still available through another channel, or whether Koodo would bring it back. Removal from the website should not be treated as proof that the plan was permanently discontinued.

How later Koodo plan reports differ

Later reports describe different Koodo offers and features, so they should not be read as evidence that the 2025 Lunar New Year promotion remained available.

  • February 26, 2026: MobileSyrup reported that Koodo had lowered a 60GB plan from $45 to $40 and an 80GB plan from $55 to $50. The reported $40/60GB plan included 5G data at up to 250 Mbps, unlimited Canada-wide talk and text, and a $10-per-month automatic bank payment discount included in the displayed price. These details apply to that dated report, not automatically to later offers. Read MobileSyrup’s February 2026 report.
  • July 7, 2026: iPhone in Canada reported further Koodo price changes and listed plans after autopay discounts. That snapshot shows the lineup changed again but does not establish a complete list of plans available on October 8, 2026. Read the July 2026 report.

The February 2026 report described a later $40/60GB offer as 5G, while the January 2025 promotion was reported as 4G. The shared price and data allowance do not make these the same plan.

What to check before choosing a plan now

The dated reports do not verify Koodo’s October 2026 availability, eligibility rules, regional offers, or account-specific pricing. Check Koodo’s current offer terms before switching or budgeting around a quoted price. For a useful comparison, confirm:

  • the monthly cost after any conditional autopay or other discount, and what happens if you no longer qualify;
  • the data allowance and whether data speed is capped;
  • whether the plan uses 4G or 5G and the applicable speed terms;
  • the scope of included talk and text; and
  • any location, account, or BYOD eligibility conditions.

Do not use an older general Koodo plan document to infer the terms of the 2025 promotion or a current offer; it does not verify those offers.
