The headline figure of “$28.3mln” is inconsistent with the fund’s reported total: it is denominated in Jordanian dinars, and the apparent intended US-dollar scale is billions, not millions. The official release does not state a dollar equivalent, so JD 20.1 billion is the reliable figure to use.
What the fund reported at the end of Q3 2026
SSIF’s October 11, 2026 release put total assets at about JD 20.1 billion, up from approximately JD 18.7 billion at the end of 2025. The fund described the increase through the first nine months of 2026 as about JD 1.5 billion, or 8%. Petra separately reported the same Q3 total on October 10, corroborating the headline figure.

These are Jordanian-dinar figures. The release does not report a USD conversion; the “$28.3mln” wording should therefore not be treated as an official dollar-denominated amount. SSIF’s release is the primary source for the reported figures, while Petra’s report provides independent publication of the central asset total.

SSIF reported about JD 1.37 billion in comprehensive income for the first nine months of 2026. That total includes two distinct components: JD 879 million in net Fund income and approximately JD 492.4 million in net valuation gains on the strategic equity portfolio. The valuation increase is not the same as cash income earned during the period.

The fund also reported an insurance surplus transfer of about JD 110 million from the Social Security Corporation. This is a separate transfer, not one of the two components described above as comprehensive income.

SSIF said net Fund income grew 8.6% compared with the same period in 2025. That is a year-on-year income comparison; it is not the same measure as the fund’s approximately 8% year-to-date increase in total assets.

SSIF manages and invests funds belonging to Jordan’s Social Security Corporation. It says its mandate is to seek sound and sustainable returns, preserve the real value of assets and holdings, and maintain liquidity for future obligations. The fund began operations in 2003. The strategy behind the reported results
SSIF says it aims to balance investment returns and acceptable risk with economic impact. It has described expanding into long-term projects in water, energy, transport and mining as part of its strategy. These are the fund’s stated priorities, not an independent assessment of the projects’ performance or risk.
Board Chairman Omar Malhas said the fund bases its decisions on a “prudent investment policy and robust institutional governance.” Chief Executive Officer Dr. Izzeddin Kanakrieh described the growth in assets and income as supporting a new phase of expansion, combining growth in existing investments with entry into new sectors and major projects. Both statements reflect the officials’ characterization of the fund’s approach.

How to read the headline number
- For the official Q3 total: use approximately JD 20.1 billion, as reported by SSIF.
- For period performance: distinguish total assets from income earned during the first nine months; comprehensive income also includes equity valuation gains.
- For comparisons: the year-end 2025 asset figure and the Q3 2026 figure are both total assets, while the 8.6% figure compares net Fund income with the same period in 2025.
- For currency: do not present a USD equivalent as an SSIF-reported figure; the official release gives the asset total in Jordanian dinars.
The figures describe Q3 2026 and may be superseded by later SSIF releases.
