What changed in Morgan Stanley’s timeline?
The reported expectation has moved from the second half of 2026 to Q1 2027. The October 12 reports say Oldenburg described the later timing as more realistic given work across the broader ecosystem, and that Morgan Stanley is actively developing the features. The reports attribute the update to an interview with The Block; the original interview was not available in the sources reviewed. CoinNess and Lookonchain reported the revised target.

Where would tokenized equities be traded?
Earlier remarks named Trajectory Cross, which Morgan Stanley described as its alternative trading system (ATS), also referred to as a dark pool. The venue already supported traditional equities, exchange-traded funds and American depositary receipts, according to the account of those remarks. The current reports do not establish whether the planned tokenized-equity support will be available to all users of the ATS or under what conditions.

Why could the schedule depend on broader market infrastructure?
In a separate recorded interview, Oldenburg described Morgan Stanley’s digital-asset strategy as spanning spot crypto trading, derivatives and digital-market infrastructure, including tokenized assets. Discussing the earlier plan, she said the firm was working to enable Trajectory Cross for tokenized equities and raised questions about making the model efficient and scalable. The available reports do not specify which securities might qualify, who would be eligible to trade, how the tokens would be structured, how settlement would work, or what conditions must be met before launch. Until Morgan Stanley provides those details, the announcement should not be read as an indication that retail investors can currently buy tokenized equities through the firm.
