Johnny Carson’s former Malibu estate was listed for $110 million in September 2025. That is the reported asking price at the time—not confirmation that the property is still available or that it sold for that amount. Compass records the listing as expired on March 17, 2026, while another brokerage page labels the property “Sold” without giving a sale date or price. Its current status is therefore unresolved.

What is known about the $110 million listing?

Architectural Digest and Realtor.com reported the $110 million asking price when the estate at 6962 Wildlife Road in Malibu’s Point Dume area was listed in September 2025. The figure was an asking price, not a confirmed sale price, appraisal, or measure of the property’s current value. The sources reviewed provide no independent market comparison or appraisal.

Compass’s property-history page records the listing as expired on March 17, 2026. A Carolwood Real Estate page labels the estate “Sold” but, in the available page information, gives no transaction date or price. Those records do not establish whether it has since sold, who owns it now, or whether it is available again.

What is the house like?

Architect Edward R. Niles designed the modern wood-and-glass residence, whose triangular plan is a defining feature. Architectural Digest described the main house as roughly 7,100 square feet with two bedrooms; Realtor.com reported 7,083 square feet. Those are source-specific descriptions, not a single independently verified measurement.

The interior is organized around a central indoor arboretum. Architectural Digest also described stone floors, floor-to-ceiling glass, and a 30-foot glass ceiling. The living area includes a sunken conversation pit with a copper-surround fireplace. Upstairs, the primary suite has dual offices, bathrooms, and walk-in closets. The lower level was described as having a lounge or dining area, wet bar, screening room, and wine cellar.

What comes with the estate?

The property’s reported scale and features extend beyond the main residence. Architectural Digest described an approximately four-acre compound, while Realtor.com reported 4.1 acres and beach access. The descriptions rely on listing materials and vary in some details, so they should not be treated as a definitive, reconciled inventory.

  • Guest and recreation buildings: Architectural Digest described a two-bedroom guesthouse and a tennis-court pavilion with two bedrooms.
  • Outdoor grounds: Reported features include gardens, terraces, and a waterfall koi pond.
  • Pool and wellness amenities: Architectural Digest listed a saltwater swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge.
  • Additional facilities: The listing descriptions include a security office and other guest and recreation spaces.

Realtor.com reproduced listing language saying the home sits closer to the bluff than new construction could under updated building codes. That is the listing’s account, not an independent engineering or land-use finding.

How did Carson’s reported ownership and the price history unfold?

Realtor.com reported that Carson acquired the property in the mid-1980s for $9.5 million and that his widow, Alexis, inherited it after his death in 2005. The outlet reported a $46 million sale to film producer Sidney Kimmel and Caroline Kimmel in 2007, followed by a $40 million off-market sale to venture capitalist Riaz Valani and Augusta Tigrett in 2019. Architectural Digest also reported the 2019 buyers and price. These are published transaction reports, not independently verified public-record findings.

What did the listing agent say?

Realtor.com attributed this assessment to listing agent Chris Cortazzo of Compass: “This is one of Malibu’s most special properties with a rich history tied to a legend like Johnny Carson. Its positioning, its architectural integrity, and the location are phenomenal.” That is the agent’s opinion, not an independent valuation or finding.
